deer season

A man and his friend were bow hunting deer in South Georgia near highway 129. A huge 10 point buck walked by and the hunter raised his bow to sight in the buck.

Before he could release, his friend alerted him to a funeral procession passing on the road below their stand.

The hunter slowly let off the pressure on his bow, took off his hat, bowed his head and closed his eyes in prayer while the buck walked back into the woods.

His friend was amazed. "Wow, that is the most thoughtful and touching thing I have ever seen. You are the kindest man I have ever known."

The hunter shrugged. "Yeah, well, we were married for 35 years."[;)][;)]

    Tomorrow is the high holy day for lots of people around here. I've never gotten into hunting. I love guns for their historic value, the skill of shooting, the pride in our great freedoms. I'm going to have to stay out of some of my favorite shooting spots now though. Two years ago I went shooting with a new 22 at a friends farm. I had forgotten it was the first day of deer season. After about 15 minutes of shooting I see orange vests moving out of the woods across the fence. Yep, I ruined some guys hunting day. After apologizing, I got out of there. Fortunatly the older guy was understanding, the younger guy looked like he was ready to shoot me and tag me as a doe. Oh well, to all of you hunters, good luck. To the rest of us, see you at the range in a week or two.

    Pass on the tradition, teach a kid to shoot.

    starts sat.29th.and I am gone gone gone,trailer is packed truck gased all I'm waiting for is the wife (hunting partner)she will be off work soon,and were gone.weather man said snow in the passses
    thur.night 1 to 3 inches.hope I get over before it hits.mule deer hunting is the greatest....

    So far, bow season has sucked and gun season isn't starting off that well either. (Whine!) Now I know that you guys are going to start telling me about all the wonderful deer you have killed this year. Be gentle. The one I missed during bow season is starting to sting.[B)]

    Mine hasn't been so hot either. I took my oldest son out this morning on his very first hunt (and only my 3rd). We saw nada. He was very disappointed, and I was disappointed for him. Not the way I wanted to start our hunting careers.

    Have had no luck yet either. I have only been out about 10 hours total thou.

    Our bow season opened back on Oct 13th. But the weather was so hot and deer were still dieing from a bug bite that I would not have killed one before it frost anyway. We have had a number of mornings lately with good heavy frost that should have killed the bug and allow the infected deer to die off.

    Got a call on the 3rd that a contractor needed someone help setting a 40'x60' steel building and have been busy framing it since. Our gun season does not open until the 19th. May have to wait until then and see what happens.
