Sig vs H&K
Ive done some searching, and I have come up blank. Out of the two which would be laft hand user friendly? I am interested in the p2000 and the p226 or p229 from sig. Does anyone own some of these weapons? I would like some feedback.

HK has ambidexterous controls and can also be switched from right hand to left hand. 0 -

I would go sig. mine is a 220
I would also go usp before p2000, but I admit to only owning a usp .40.0 -
I am left handed and I really like the Sigs. I have a P220ST, P228 & P226. I have only shot a couple of HK's and they did not fit me as well. 0 -

Every gun has had its problems mateomasfeo. I'm extremely happy with my Sig and it shoots like a dream. It's been such a good gun that it's almost like a part of my family or close friend. My gun is old, things wear out. It will eat any kind of ammo I throw at it and is very accurate.

There is nothing wrong with the Sig P229 in S&W 40 or the 357 SIG. I also like the Sig P220 in 45acp. Touch feel and shoot the Sig and the H&K then choose. My 2 cents [8D] 0 -
As someone has already said, pick the one that feels best, chances are that it will perform the best for you. However, having seconded that notion, you should know that you will never find a Sig in my shop. From the dealers perspective, Sig is the worst company in the world. After 40 years in the business, I am not reluctant to characterize Sig as far and away the worst company with which to do business. If you go with Sig, just hope that you never need any service. Buy the H&K. It is a better handgun......I have owned all the brands and nothing compares. My carry gun....USP 45 Compact has over 25,000 rounds and has never stalled.

Sorry but don't use my topic without knowing a bit of the history. My gun is very old and I can't even imagine how many rounds I've put through in the ten years I have owned it myself, not to mention all the rounds that were put through it prior. I didn't get it even remotely new.
I shot my buddies HK and I'm not impressed with them a bit. I used to always want one until I touched one.0 -
This may have nothing to do with reliability, but from I have seen and experienced, H&K is not too interested in maintaining a good relationship with civilian shooters. To them, we are "unauthorized individuals." Take a look at the G36 they sell to us (aka, the SL8) and the fact that they refuse to sell their 416 upper on the civilian market. Hell, for a while you couldn't even buy the carrying handle/scope without importing it from some secondhand dealer in Germany!
Add on to that the fact that an H&K costs roughly 10%-20% more than a Sig? Forget it. I'm through patronizing a company that views me as a second-class customer.0 -
My HKs have all been great guns. Dealings with HK service has been quick and easy, no problem there either. HK service has improved.
I've had two Sigs that were problematic and one at HK level perfection. Sig service has been good too. I carry both guns as CCWs, but if I had to pick one it would be the HK.0 -
There is a shooting range not far from me that rents long guns and handguns and it's a great way to make your own decision on what suites you best .

Yea, I think they are probably all duty capable/quality production line handguns. I honestly don't think that one has an advantage over the other, just more personal preference kinda thing. Between the ones listed, I personally prefer the Sig P229, just because I've shot it, I've shot the P226 and the P299 just feels alot better in my hand. I haven't ever shot a P2000. I was never a fan of HK. I always thought they were overpriced for what you get. I at one time owned a USP40. I was really hyped when they first came out after seeing an HK catalog. The .40sw was a fairly new cartridge at the time too. It shot fine, nothing spectacular. It was reliable. But for the most part it was just another bulky polymer framed handgun. I really could never justify the price tag on them. I think it was just because it had HK stamped on it. 0 -
the local range has one sig and its a 226 they do not have a H&K i might buy one of each and alternate them, so they stay in great condition. 0 -
Although I'm an H&K fan they're not for everyone . I always try to rent a gun first to know if I'll like it or hate it .
If your pockets are deep then buy both .
