Good day at the new range yesterday.
I am ticked thou at myself. Loaded everything up and headed over to the new range in Lincoln County WV. Get there and was about to start shooting some photos when the camera gave a beep. "No Card In Camera". It hit me that I had left it in the card reader stuck in the puter.
OH well..
Got their about 11.30AM as the turkey shoot was winding down. I do not turkey shoot unless they are on two legs in the woods. But the guys were shooting some killer "groups" as it were with their guns.
I got a card for the 100 yard rifle shoot. Took a new Stainless Model 70 .270 that had only been bore sighted. 5 shots, which they were shooting 5 shot groups at a time, and not a single round hit the the 8x10 card with a 6x6 square block containing a 1" circle in the center. They were having scoped rifles shoot at 100 yards only. I did put 2 out of 5 rounds on the card with the .308 Win 70. It to has only been bore sighted. So after one round with each rifle I quite.
Pulled out the Colt .44 mag and shot with the 50 yard scoped pistol group. They would not allow any type of rest to be used except the bench. Nine of us were shooting in the 50 yard scoped pistol. I ended up winning the event. We shot nine rounds of five shot groups. My average groups scored an average of 1.68" out of center. One ole guy did out shoot everyone in the class after he went home and brought back a one off custom pistol that was spot on. But since he switched pistols to a bolt action bottle, necked .308-7mm with an 18" barrel in the middle of the shoot. He was "disqualified". He was shooting less than 3/4" groups with the thing at 50 yards.
It was a great event with a good crowd of men, women and kids shooting. They served Hot dogs, soda and chips. The dogs were really good. The Lincoln High School JROTC and the Volunteers along with the Sheriff's Deputies put on an excellent event.
I walked away with a .44-.45 Bore Snake, New rifle sling and a $20.00 gift certificate from a local sporting goods store.
The old Anaconda did an excellent job with the 240 grain JHP American Eagles.
But man I got to get the new rifles tuned up..[:I]
Anyone living within driving distance of the new range should give it a go even if it is just a 100 yard range. For it is a great setup with easy access.

Sounds like you had a GOOD day. 0 -
Glad to hear you had a good time at the range. Having a good day shooting is never a bad thing - having a good day shooting and getting tons of free stuff for it is even better![:D] 0 -
I must admit that it was the best that I have ever shot the Colt using just the bench and both hands as a rest..
I love the Bore Snake and recommend them to anyone. It is the first one that I had ever used and it was a pain to get through the barrel the first time. But one pass and it was spotless.
They said that they would try to get the results listed in the local paper along with some photos. That should not be hard to do since the County Commissioner was their and was the one that supplied the funds to have the range built.
Went back today to tune the the 270. It was hitting 4" high at 25 yards. Geeze... I wonder where the bullets went at 100 yards. For I dought that they were anywhere within a half mile of the range.0
