Would You Surrender Guns to the Police IF.........
.........they had a "No Questions Asked" buy-back day in your town, offering $100 per gun?
Here's what I'm thinking: I'll raid the "crappy gun box," consiting of two Lorcin .22's, a Bryco .22, & a Raven .25 -- all old, crappy, and all but useless. I'll turn them in, collect a cool $400, and head right to the gun store to pick up that Ruger Blackhawk I've been wanting.
Is that a plan or what? What a trade. The police essentially will be just giving me a free Blackhawk!!

If you had written, I would have pulled them off for you. They didn't care if the weapon had grips or not. Iver Johnson didn't.0 -

Went to the buyback. Lots more people than they expected. Lots of junk although a cop told me that before I got there, there were a few gems. I got my $1100 worth of Wally world cards and scored one decent buy-a Colt vest pocket .25 for a hundred cash. Old lady didn't want to wait in the line.[:p][:D]
The same cop told me they are doing it again in a month and that there were so many guns, the chief had to write a personal check (or maybe a city check) to cover part of the cards. He also said Homeland Security was going to kick in some juice. Anybody heard of HS doing this? I don't really think they need to be sponsoring this type of thing personally.
Guess I'll start taking the shiite guns in.[;)][:)]
Wouldn't you know it, I missed the cut! Not knowing any better, I cruised in there about 1:00PM, thinking I'd walk right up to the table. There had to be at least over a hundred people waiting in line. They cut it off just before me, and said try back next month. The cop told me they had given out over $75,000 in gift cards.
The funniest thing is that -- as I expected -- the crowd consisted of old ladies, poor folks who probably really needed $100, and the opportunistic like you and I. Every gun I saw was either in pieces, totally rusted over, or otherwise appeared to be non-functional. Yet the cops think their really doing something to deter crime. HA !!! But hey, if they insist on doing it again, at least I have a month to scrounge up every junk gun I can find [}:)]0 -
One day they will make it a mandatory buy back based on the "success" of these voluntary ones. They will reason that everyone "wants" to get rid of any guns they have at home and since it is for our own good.... 0 -
Few years back when DC started their buy back program, G.Gordon Liddy did a show on it and had a caller who said he was a DC polce officer. The guys said that many valueable collector guns were turned in. Lugers, Civil War cap & ball Colts etc. Mostly by civic minded elderly citizens who didn't know the values of what they had.
He also said that many of these collector pieces DIDN"T go to the shredder. But got divided up by the brass.
How nice. Get a gun worth thousands for $100. or maybe even FREE.0 -
A few years back there was a picture in the paper of Police dumping confiscated weapons over the bridge rail into the river. Wish one could know their schedules & sit under the bridge in a boat and stick out a long handled net to see how many one could keep from getting wet. And then since your'e wearin frogman gear, go after more. Legal salvage rights. Some PD's have wised up and sell the stuff at auctions to legitimate buyers. That makes more sense than torching some expensive collectibles among other things. I wonder if they would pay a $100.00 for non-firing but real looking replicas, if so, one could quickly use up their buy budget. 0 -

Aim had them for 36.00 a piece about 4 years ago and after you cleaned the grease off they were re-arsenaled near perfect.0 -
Do lazer guns still count? 0 -
i have an uncle who left 5 guns at my moms house years ago. they are pretty crappy and old and rusted cheap guns. i dont think you could find someone to pay $10 for them. if the police wanted to give $100 each and no questions were asked i would take them down and sell them. 0 -
I would not surrender my guns to any kind of buyback program because it would give credence and legitimacy to the gun-grabbers and their confiscation agenda. Profit, be damned! 0 -
Would I surrender my gunS?
No, but I would surrender my chinese model 37 12ga knockoff of an ithaca, and use the $100 towards a mossberg.
I'm keeping my SU-16 and my 10-22, so I can say all my guns are made in America.
I still need some sort of pistol..0 -

Get in line and see what folks are turning in. I'd think you might find a 1911, a Python, Model 19, who knows what treasure you could get off of some crack head for $125.00.[:D][:D][:D][:D]
Now keep in mind you'd be running a risk of ending up with a hot gun but then life is full of risks.
+1[;)][8D]0 -
I always wanted to go down there and snipe (not literally) the guys bringing guns in. Just get in line and start buying some good guns off the people around you. 0 -
guns.........what guns...... 0 -
As of today, I have 4 more handguns and 2 longguns to turn in. A couple of them required the use of the hot glue gun to stay together![:o)][:p]
Since the buybacks are all just for show, why can't the guns be too?[:0][:D]0 -
I been thinking, dont the cops keep an eye out for guys buying guns in line? One would think so.. Just wondering. 0 -

Here in Alabama, it doesn't matter. No laws are being broken. No FOID BS, face to face sales are legal, I purchased the Colt Junior while standing right next to an officer. Other states may be different.0 -
No, but I would ask them if they had any for sale for $100.00 0 -
