The worst excuse

...Lightning fried my 'puter a couple weeks ago, and I just got it back. I started calling Best Buy a week ago and was told..."It might be back, but the guy that opens the boxes is on vacation."...The guy that opens the boxes?!
...So, what'd I miss in two weeks? Bans? Verbal jousting? The usual name calling and other playground silliness?

    ..I wish I was kidding. That's really what he said. Geek Squad indeed. There was a one year factory warranty, and the machine was 364 days old. Gotta get lucky once in a while.

    ...Best Buy extended warranties won't cover "acts of God", but the Compaq warranty covered it. Cost to me was zero, except for the time BB had it, they shipped it to Kentucky and from there to the Compaq people.

    ...Roger that. I had an el-cheapo Wal Fart special. Buy a good one, and they usually come with a warranty that covers damage to your equipment.

    alright i guess my vacations over. no damn my box cutter broke oh well nothing to do now i guess i will eat lunch until the blade replacement guy gets here for my knife. then i can see if you box is here. damn now my mom is here to pick me up maybe tommorow[:D] bunch of jackass' that work there if you ask me

    I'm hoping they meant 'we only have one guy that can do the inventory, because the company is paranoid everyone else will steal stuff'.... or something along those lines. That or they have some really unusual boxes [:0]


    Oh, and surge protectors are great, but at least some of those warrenties are only good if you have the orginal proof of purchase and its less that XX months old etc. If you don't have the recepit for something you bought a year ago your SOL[8)] Had lighting hit the pole out by the street and surge threw the phone line?? and a few years ago. Blackened the inside of the phone walljacks, fired a dsl modeum, router, two computers, and also killed one of those fancy portable phones. Some part of it was paid by house insurance, but still cost $ to learn the hard way that best protection to just unplug the dang thing (electrical and phone line) when its lighting outside.
