Whataya think about them????????????Im looking in to buying a pair.

after they left Nelsonville,OH and went to some damn island because the work force could be had for nothing I wouldn't wipe my arse with a pair and you can take that to the bank..not made in the USA anymore..[V][:(!]..Loko 0 -
So what would you suggest?????? Danner is great but I really dont want to spend $200 on a pair of boots.

I agree with Loko,......although I have not had the "imported" crap.
Back in the early eighties they were fine with me, as I had several pairs.0 -
I love my Rocky boots. I did not know about their current operations although that is probably just good business, as long as the quality does not diminish. 0 -
I've had them and trashed them. Look into some Danners I've had my huntin Danners for 16 years and they have always kept my feet warm and dry even when I was duck hunting in Oregon or running around the mountains in Alaska. 0 -

I'm not suggesting anything, but if you want an inferior,uncomfortable boot made out of the USA have at it brother..I wear Whites.. check out www.whitesboots.com .the best boots I ve ever had period!..[;)]..Loko0 -

They were good boots when they were produced in Nelsonville, OH. It use to be that you could visit the plant and pick up a pair at factory direct prices.
They have went to the dogs since they are being imported. Red Wings are another use to be good boot that has gone to the dogs.
I am rough on boots and will stick with my made in PA, USA Matterhorn's.

My dept used to issue them but went to Danner. We had lots of problems with Rocky's.
I also had a pair I bought at Meijer's that was reduced. Had a problem and called the factory. They told me that they did not deal directly with consumers and that I should take them back to Meijer's. They stated that when they sold the boots to Meijer's, their agreement was that Meijer's would handle any returns and they would not warranty them because they sold them to them at a reduced rate. I think that is how they unload their crap boots.
I told them they would never see another dollar of mine.0 -
When ROCKY bought GEORGIA boots they went to crap. Corporate Headquarters in Nelsonville will not honor their warranty. We have stoppped carrying ROCKY and GEORGIA. DANNER! 0 -

True enough, Matterhorn is damn good boot.
I am surprised at you guys who say Danner. All the Danner boots I have had have been pretty crappy.0 -
I always got Rockys when I was able to afford them but that was 20 years ago. I bought a pair of Irish Setters last fall and I love them. They are lite and very comfortable. 0 -

I'll never buy another pair again. Had 2 pairs, Stalker and Bearclaw and both of the soles just fell apart. One looked like dryrot and the other just broke apart in chunks. Tried to get them warrantied but had the same problem as Gunfunco. Never again..[:(!] 0 -
Taking the price I paid for my pair and the wear I have gotten out of them so far, I can't complain I guess.

I agree with the suggestions for Danners. If you do not want to pay premium prices for them, look into the Cabelas brand boots that are made by Danner. They are Danners that are stamped with Cableas name on them.
Another choice is Irish Setters. They are marketed by Red Wing I believe, but they are still made in the US and are good quality. I have a pair of Irish Setter hiking boots that I have put through the wringer and they haven't fallen apart yet. Almost all the tread is gone off of the bottom and I have almost worn through the toe area, but it has taken me almost 10 years to do that.0
