Conservative University Faculty Poll
I'd like to do a survey. Please report the number of faculty you interacted with who were conservative, and the number who were liberal Then report the approximate population of the city in which that college or university was.

I'll go first. Three institutions, three different cities:
Conservative: 0
Liberal: 10
City population: 146,000
Conservative: 0
Liberal: 2
City population: 2,000,000
Conservative: 2
Liberal: 0
City population: 20,0000 -
What's your definition of conservative? Is it the classic definition: small government, lots of individual rights, low taxes, and the federal government staying the heck out of state and local issues? Or is it George Bush conservatism, with massive governmental expansion, restriction on individual rights, (eventual) higher taxes, and the federal government nosing into all sorts of state and local matters?

How about: use your own definition of conservative?

when i was in college i concluded i had one conservative professor and the rest were very liberal. and i mean VERY LIBERAL 0 -
By and large there are far more liberals in academia than there are conservatives. Some schools are very tilted one way or the other and are famous for being so. In my experience as a student (16 years) and as a college employee (13 years) it was probably about 40% liberal, 30% libertarian and 30% conservative. There's always the odd Communist, too. 0 -
a poll of ivy league professors showed 90% described themselves as liberal 0
