First day on the new job
Sold a Glock 27, Ruger M77 in 270, and a Benelli Nova 12ga/26" in Advantage Timber.
Had a blast. Love it, but the pay doesn't make it really worth it at the end of the day.
We'll see where it takes me. Hell, I may be store manager one day.

get commission on sales plus base pay? or just base pay? I've thought about getting into that myself, we have a gander mtn. about 30 mins from me, but not sure i could handle some of the no-nothings that they have in there already. 0 -
What did i just read? Free discounts for everyone? OK! 0 -

Nice Job Congrats, just remember corporate HQ wants to see lots of "Multiple Item Transactions". accesorys accesorys accesorys 0 -
MN Hunter,
We've got a Gander down here and I'll tell you, they have two kinds of people in there...those that know nothing...they try to put them behind the gun counter and those that know a lot. I try to talk to those that know a lot when I need information and I talk to those that don't know much when I want to bargain on a gun...
Cubslover,
Congrats on the great first day! One day you may want to do this for a living or something. When you get to that point go out on your own...no one will pay you what you can make that way.0 -

im sure they are around...but the one in st cloud (gander) is a complete joke. first the selection sucks (guns, scopes, etc) to say the least, and the people working there failed certain tests to get the job.
sportsmans was the best thing to happen to that area..(at least for me [;)]) but im moving down towards farmington/lakeville area..so im hoping the one of 35 is worth a hoot...or i may change jobs before starting [:0][;)][:D]0 -
Eh. We've got a great Gander Mtn here in Denver. I've found the people behind the desk to be very knowledgeable. We have two Sportsmans Warehouses, one with knowledgeable gun people and one with useless ones. We've got a Bass Pro with very well-informed staff and we've got a half-dozen Dick's whose entire lot of employees wouldn't know their ass from a hole in the wall.
Cubs, man, congrats on your first day! I'm jealous, but I'd spend my entire paycheck (not half as you stated the other day) there. My wife would need to get an evening job at Hooters so we could pay bills.0 -
Congrats on your first day, Cubs. I've thought about getting a P/T job at our Bass Pro shop but can't bring myself to do it. It seems I don't have time to do anything as it is so another job wouldn't help. Maybe next winter. 0 -
I work at Gander Mountain as a gunsmith. Believe me, there are SOME people here that are not the best versed but most know their sh&%. Selection is very good with 1,500 guns in stock and if we don't have it we can get it here in 10 days or less.

I'm thinking he bought them all himself, and there were three others he could not sell, even to himself. I say success at the new job is still hanging in the balance.[}:)]
Just the job I want when I retire.0 -
I thought about working at the local gun store/range but I know I would blow all that money on toys. Another bummer is I live in DE and the closest gun store to me is 5 minutes away but in PA. I'd have to pay transfer fees on everything I bought. Good luck in your job and don;t spend it all in one place[:D] 0 -
