Thought I would share with you all what the author of the petition had to say when I asked what he was going to do with it.

    Gary:

First this is an open letter for you to share as you deem fit since I erred and did not think to include what I intended to do with the petition. Post this email at the gun/hunting forums of which you frequent though I merely ask that omit my email addy OR direct me to the formentioned sites and I'll register and answer questions OR they can contact me as you did- via the contact form- and I shall respond. Feel free though to give my addy to the forum owners you have already contacted in the event they desire further information.

Now to your question as to what I intend to do with the petition information. It is my intent to make a second comment submission to the OSHA with a hard copy of the petition and the information that any person with internet access will see when they go to http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/say-no-to-osha-ammunition-regulations/signatures.html . In short, what one sees when one go to the petition web page is all the information that will be included, as it is already freely viewable to all. By submitting it to OSHA, it's becomes a matter of public record which is what counts when people petition their government. I did not think it is my place to present specific stree/mail addresses and email addy's to the Gov..

Getting back to your original question, I have submitted an amendatory statement with the Go Petition people that I intend to file a hard copy with OSHA/ TO WIT: " NOTICE TO THE SIGNERS:
I had been asked what I intend to do with the petition. It is my intention to to send a hard copy of the petition as part of a public comment to OSHA. The only information that will be included is what any any internet user who opens the petition page http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/say-no-to-osha-ammunition-regulations.html can view. Sorry for any inconvienance. Please submit your comments directly to OSHA. 15 June 15:03 EST. "
It may take up to 6 hrs for my amendment to be posted since the Go Petition people review each submission.

I already submitted my personal objections to the proposed rule to OSHA pursuant to the submission guidelines. I am hoping that the signers of the petition will follow up and post their own personal comments with OSHA. Most importantly, my petition was more of a call to action and, for the general public and politicians to see that most gun owners are not sheep awaiting the slaughter.

It is more imperative for those who oppose the proposed OSHA regulation to make their voice known to OSHA directly. The petition at best is just an easy format for gun owners to see that their fellow gun owners are not surrendering . I am sure you know of gun owners who are timid about getting involved with the issue of actively working to protect their 2nd. Amendment rights. When the timid see others working to protect the second, that may give them strength to work also.

Right now, except in regimes like NYC, D.C. , Chicago and there are other locations, where gun grabbing is the norm, most of America is in a soft war, so to speak, regarding the gun control. Yes, we have some harmful laws on the books throughout America that impedes the exercise of our Right but we are not at the full blown stage where we can expect our front doors to be kicked in and our families threatened with death if we resist the government's future plans to confiscate privately owned arms. When the hard war comes- when the gun grabbers send the goons to seize arms, it will be to late.
My petition gives the opportunity for gun owners and others a chance to speak in favor of upholding the 2nd. Amendment- like making comments to OSHA, which is an examples of a soft war tactic
what the Founding Fathers preferred to resolving issues between the citizen and the government. Should the government commense with the hard war against gun owners, it will have been a good first step to limit the amount of ammo and reloading components available to the general public.

Those fighting the soft war now: petitioning their elected and appointed (OSHA in this case) officials, electing Constitution & America first candidates(when/if available), actively involved with one or more pro-2nd. Amendment organization (NRA, JPFO, GOA, state organizations, etc. ), making public comments in the papers(at least those that will allow for pro-gun commentary) are your soft war soldiers. Those not engaged in the soft war but merely babble the rhetoric that 'no one's gonna take my guns', are the same fool who'll turn you and I in to save their necks, even if for only one extra day!

At the close of the petition, I intend to place a 'thank you' to the signers.

If you have other questions, feel free to ask.

Lastly, stock up now if you have not done so yet.

    Sincerely,
    John Salsgiver

After you sign the petition, you should also send a comment to OSHA.

Here is how you do it.

    1) Go to http://www.regulations.gov
    2) Under the Submit Comments section, click on All documents open for public comment
    3) Then manually shoot to page 19 (it says only 4+ pages, but there are more) and enter in the scroll down to OSHA-2007-0032
    4) In the far right column click on the little Yellow bulb icon to post a comment.
    5) Paste this:

    Dear Sir or Madam:

I am writing in strong opposition to OSHA's proposed rules on "explosives," which go far beyond regulating true explosives. These proposed rules would impose severe restrictions on the transportation and storage of small arms ammunition, both complete cartridges and handloading components such as black and smokeless powder, primers, and percussion caps. These restrictions go far beyond existing transportation and fire protection regulations.

As a person who uses ammunition and components, I am very concerned that these regulations will have a serious effect on my ability to obtain these products. OSHA's proposed rules would impose restrictions that very few gun stores, sporting goods stores, or ammunition dealers could comply with. Prohibiting firearms in stores that sell ammunition, for example, is absurd, but would be required under the proposed rule.

The proposed transportation regulations would also affect shooters' ability to buy these components by mail or online, because shipping companies would also have great difficulty complying with the proposed rules. For instance, the rules against leaving any vehicle containing "explosives" unattended would make it impossible for companies such as United Parcel Service to deliver ammunition to businesses or consumers without massive changes in their operations, such as putting a second driver on any truck that might happen to deliver a case of shotgun shells.

There is absolutely no evidence of any new safety hazard from storage or transportation of small arms ammunition or components that would justify these new rules. I also understand that organizations with expertise in this field, such as the National Rifle Association, National Shooting Sports Foundation, and Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Association, will be submitting detailed comments on this issue. I hope OSHA will listen to these organizations' comments as the agency develops a final rule on this issue.

    Sincerely,

The Document OSHA-2007-0032 is no longer accessable online. A search returns the message that the document can not be found.

    What happened?

Was it Withdrawn? Was it withdrawn from public comment?

It is because they pulled the proposed rules! Check out my other thread about that.
