Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.
As in a bunch of anti-capital punishment types that would sleep much better at night knowing that Death Row is empty. And on the streets. Raping your wives and daughters. And dogs.0 -

Capital punishment is only a deterrent to the general population of thugs if it is swiftly and certainly carried out.
Example: The Chinese FDA director. Convicted, stood against a wall and shot. Bet your ass no other government official will sanction putting poison in food or drugs.0 -

HobbyGuy - problem is that *someone* has to look down that barrel and know what they are about to do. I could do it if I was being shot at, but I don't think otherwise...
Now lets take a room, rig a bunch of single shot 22s to the walls so it will/can cover *everything* in the room, make 'em all electric fire, load 'em up, and set a random timer....0 -
FWIW- when utah executed Gary Gilmore, they used a firing squad. Word was there was no shortage of volunteers. 0 -

Thats one thing I do really like about Texas, however even here it is much to costly to the tax payers and not done in near timely manner in my opinion.
Hanging seems cheap. You can reuse the rope. Lethal injection is garbage.0 -
They need to expand the death penalty. Any violent assaultive crime should earn it; rape, severe battery, murder of course, multiple armed robberies... you should still get a trial and the right to appeal; but once your appeal is rejected, you should get led out and shot. By person, by machine, whatever. Bang. End of story.
I saw on the discovery channel sometime ago a fullproof lie detector by using a catscan. By seeing what parts of your brain are active, it could tell with 100 percent certainty who was lying. But then I never heard about it again. Use that to weed out the few innocents who might make it that far.0 -

Use it in the beginning and it never has to get that far. Gets rid of the whole appeal process as well.0
