Is this a reasonable price?
I need a scope for my .270 and went to the gun shop to buy one. He had 2 used old Weaver 6X40's that he offered me both for $100.00 out the door, but thats not what I want for a .270. I then looked at the few new scopes he had and found a Bushnell 3-9x40 with Rain Guard for $119.00 he said I could have it for $100.00 + tax. This sounds a little high to me. What do you guys think, is the Bushnell worth that much?

I think I'd go to a shop where they don't try to sell me used stuff I'm not interested in. Did you tell him you wanted a scope for a .270? How did he suggest you mount the 2 scopes to one rifle? And was that supposed to make it one 12x1600 scope or a 36x80? I forget how it works with 2 scopes. 0 -
When I need a price on scopes, I generally check cheaperthandirt.com
I will at least get a general price range there.0 -
I check prices at Cabela's, Natchez and Bear Basin Outfitters. They are usually about the same, often have sales and almost always beat the local guy even including shipping. You did not mention model #, but you can easily check those three to get an idea. Sometimes I can find it a little cheaper by googling. 0 -
The only Bushnell's that have the Rain Guard are Elite 3200s or 4200s. I am going to assume it is the 3200 if he is going to give it to you for $100. For the 3200 that is a great deal! $200 is the going price for a new one. If it isn't a 3200 then he is pulling your leg about the Rainguard coating.
BTW, I have 3200's on both of my deer hunting rifles.0
