URGENT ALERT ? ILLINOIS
Found this at another site and found it worthy to post. Sorry if it has been posted already.
......ONE STEP CLOSER TO GUN BAN
Freedom-loving Illinois citizens were dealt a serious blow today when Senate Bill 16 - the Daley plan to ban and confiscate your semiautomatic rifles and shotguns - passed out of the Senate Public Health Committee. The bill now goes to the full Senate for what promises to be a furious floor fight.

...Ah jeez....I wrote my reps last week. I'd better bug them again. 0 -
Bang - I saw other thread about this, but it never hurts to get it out again.
Looks like we can add ILL. to the list of states to move the hell away from / stay the hell out of, along with CA, MA & NY.0 -
Funny everybody thinks moving away will save them. Save you for maybe five years. How cowardly to turn your back and run away. I say stay voice your opinions a try to hold out. Moving doesnt solve anything just allows for others to gain steam. Here is the start to stop it and everyone wants to move away. 0 -

Does the expression Tyranny of the Majority mean anything to you?
You can't win if you stay. In those states the Liberal population is so deeply entrenched in the big cities in the freaks+weirdos population, and nothing you can ever do will change that. In NY I'm outnumbered 1:4, and that's because the city of New York has more freaks living in it than the entire rest of the state. Nothing I can do.
When it comes down to it, you might as well hit the road to someplace more hospitable.
Ever heard the expression "You gotta pick your battles"? It's true. If you fight where you can't win, you'll do nothing but tire yourself out.
Once the Mexicans are over the battlements, the Alamo's lost, chief.0 -
Might as well go down swinging. I am bull headed and dont give up just because there are more people who think differently. 0 -

While I respect your pugnaciousness, it doesn't change the fact that you will slowly lose all of your gun rights and probably become a criminal.
And the best part is, nobody will care.
Why would you want to sacrifice yourself for nothing?
Tyranny of the majority, baby. Read de Tocqueville.0 -
Suddenly gun rights is nothing. Physical force is not one of my methods. And under the U.S. constitution i have the right to petition and allow for my views to known. If it is a breeze to pass this bill what happens to the surronding states? I do what i can for myself and for the rest of the nation. If my efforts make it difficult to pass here other states may delay or rethink their purposals. You can not just lay down and die thats how they win overall. 0 -

I agree that you shouldn't simply lay down and die.
But if your state is anything like my (soon to be ex) state, your chances of affecting squat are about zero.
The State House, Senate, and Governor are all rabid anti-gun Democrats. There is zero hope for preventing any kind of anti-gun legislation from going through.
Sun-Tzu said in the art of war that you should fight on your terms and your chosen battlefield, not on the enemy's. When you fight on the enemy's terms and battlefield, you lose every time.
You'll do more good for the movement alive and kicking in exile than you will going out in a fruitless blaze of stubborn glory, like a firefly getting stepped on by a giant.0 -
Seeing that most of the soponsors are from Chicago i can only disagree. The fact that it is not law as of yet is reason enough for me. You and i sir are at differences in opinion and right now niether of us are going to change our minds. So lets leave it at that. Either way it is limiting the rights or our 2nd amendment. 0 -
i knew it the day after the last election, it comes as no surprise 0 -

Yeah, this really is no suprise. You can thank the 1.5 million people who got him re-elected and you can thank the other 9 million (many of which are gun owners) who didn't bother to get off their lazy a$$es and vote. So PEOPLE, when they come kicking in your doors for your $%$##*@#&@ guns and you don't know what's going on, don't blame me!! You deserve it now.
This topic already came up. Already contacted two senators about it. One is adamantly against it and also happens to be the one that has Springfield Armory and Armalite's factories in his district.
The other (being from our 'rural' district) did not write me back so I can assume he's for the ban and did not agree with me. So, I'd say we're toast this time. We've dodged these bills so many times, year after year. It's finally going to catch with us. It never ends.
Most other states are falling in line and allowing concealed carry (48 out of 50) while Illinois seeks to disarm us all. I hate Chicago with a passion. Why they can't break away and become their own district, I'll never know. They probably enjoy controlling the entire state and having a governor from Chicago to satisfy their every need.
The republicans NEED TO FIND A BETTER CANDIDATE for next time, AND THEY NEED TO START LOOKING NOW!!!!
You guys need to start contacting senators if you haven't been. If you've never done it, now is the time. If it will even matter. You aren't going to change the mind of these Chicago morons.
Oh well, maybe Armalite will be moving into a community near you to create new jobs. Geneseo can slowly turn into an all service/ fast food community like most of the towns around here.0 -
WELCOME TO THE STATE OF CHICAGO is what the signs should say along the roads. 0 -

I agree with Bullzeye on this one. The other thing to consider is that if everyone who is really concerned moves to more hospitable surroundings, eventually we will end up being the majority somewhere. Then we can set the example for everyone else.
Bang - If it comes down to you guys losing your guns, you are always welcome to store them in my safe and use them whenever you want to. [:D]0
