gun cleaning
I've got an old gun that dates back to the 1800's and I need to know what solvent to use to bring out the markings, and should I use steel wool or a rag? Anyone know ?

Everything I ever learned, I learned on my own, either from experience, mistakes or reading. Any one have any GOOD web sites for pistol, rifle, or shotgun cleaning. I'm a pretty simple guy and seeing it done makes more sense. Yes, I need pictures, pictures, pictures and a good video demonstration.
When talking to the guys at the gun clubs I belong to there is a lot of different opinions.

Is using WD-40 good for cleaning an AR15(mostly dirt in the internals) or will it hurt the gun? Or should I use gun oil specfically made for ARs?
Is there a gun oil made for cleaning ARs, if so what its called or whats the best thing to use?0 -
