    they wont take mine.

I happen to believe that if more citizens were armed less of this snit would happen. That is why I am in the process of getting my ccw permit.

Oddly, shooting incidents get worse and more numerous when moves seem afoot for a new assault on 2nd Amendment rights.

Sure as shootin there are going to be assaults on our gun rights.
We might hang tough like the Canadians or wimp out & register
or turn in repeaters and black rifles.

...the more dims in power, the more idiotic gun laws there will be to contend with, count on it.

...if "they" decide to ever come to take our guns...they have a real good idea for a starting point...anyone with a CHL...[;)]

mogley quote:Smoking is easier but again with all the violence I feel that we are heading into gloomy times for gun collectors/owners.

..uh, what am I missing here about "smoking"...[?]

There is ZERO possibility of "They" taking our guns.

There is a HUGE probability of stupid, abject cowards lining up to turn IN their guns...when the ban comes.

REAL American will look at the lines in wonder...and shun those turning in guns, when freedom once again shines forth in this country....

As for the NRA...they will get money and support when I see support for the Second Amendment..instead of the nexr gun control law.

An armed society is a polite society. The left handed liberals need to realize that if the society would arm themselves, the only people getting shot would be the bad guys.

To be sure, there will be further assaults on the right to keep and bear arms. It is way past time for Americans to take a "no compromise" approach to these attempts.

Sadly, most gun owners will quibble about the details of the upcoming attempts, not stand firm and resolute with their fellow Americans in resistance to ANY attempts to restrict our rights.

Enough people have accepted that regulation is necessary, to ensure continued and accelerating erosions of our rights.

A predatory government, an increasingly liberal and urban population, less and less emphasis on American Constitutional Principals and American Sovereignty, a loss of American "rugged individualism, increasingly dumbed down generations with little or no concept of what this country was founded on and what it is all about = a pending disaster.

Actually, these shooting incidents seem to get worse and more numerous when pro-gun legislation is being considered.

Consider that Columbine happened on the eve of a vote to force sheriffs to issue CCW permits to qualified people instead of allowing sheriffs to cherry-pick friends and neighbors and ignore everyone else. The vote was going to pass by a wide margin. The next day, the vote was shot down (pardon the pun).

Its not like these sorts of "random" shootings are new. If you still have your guns now, why should that change?

I'd make the argument that the best deterrent to random shootings is to have plenty of CCW holders wandering around.

This will never stop a crazy or suicidal person from getting off a few shots, but you might reduce their incentive to try it, and you will probably be able to limit their impact once they start shooting.

That is part of the societal response to terrorism in Israel. The Israelis don't have a RKBA or what we in American have for CCW, but they do try to make sure that at least one armed person is present in crowded public places, and they REQUIRE an armed adult to accompany groups of minors.

(As I love to point out, this results in the curious phenomenon of 25 year old female Israeli kindergarden teachers occasionally walking around with Uzis).

If the anti groups are really about decreasing violence and not just decreasing guns then why are'nt they doing anything at all about knives, baseball bats, or cars? When was the last time someone came up with new tire iron legislation?

    Silly boy!

Guns are designed to kill. These other items have useful, non-lethal purposes by design.

I read an article once here in Texas about gun laws. It read that it has been proven that when states have stricter gun laws or without ability to get CHL the shootings is worse. Wish I had the link to that.

Join the NRA? I did and then they called me it seemed like right after I joined and wanted more money, this became a cycle, maybe I should have ponied up the life member fee but I couldn't afford it and I had enough they were not winning any battles anyway, I let my subscription/membership lapse. I have watched our rights to choice in this country erode and so while I really don't agree with everything the NRA does, or how they spend the money and I think they should be louder but guess what without us voters to dangle in the pols faces and lots more of us are needed to GAIN ground so support the NRA and other Grassroots orgs and send them money if the NRA goes we go with it!
