Which non-resident handgun permits?
My new lifetime Indiana permit to carry a handgun for personal protection arrived in the mail today. (Indiana also issues "hunting & target" permits which do not allow for concealed carry.)
Which states that offer non-resident permits would be useful to apply for?

hi, I believe florida's is among the best to have , around 15 states offer reprocity, Bob 0 -
Pennsylvania's is a good one to have, also. I forget offhand how many states it covers, though. It is also one of the less expensive ones. 0 -
As of '07, Florida recognizes 28 IF YOU ARE RESIDENT in one of them.
Pennsylvania recognizes 12.
TEXAS recognizes 38.
North Carolina recognizes 28.
All of this info is contained in a GREAT book, "Traveler's Guide to the Firearm Laws of the Fifty States", ISBN 097254890-4, 2007 edition.
Kentucky, Idaho, Indiana, Oklahome, Arizona,Tennessee, Missouri,Utah, South Dakota, Michigan, and Alaska extend automatic recognition to others.0 -

Have you heard anything about Indiana doing away with the Lifetime permit? I was at a gunshop down here in the southern part of the state and one of the sale's guys told me a friend (IN State Trooper) told him they weren't going to offer the permits after the first of the year. I haven't been able to find anything to back that up. I'm sure it's just a bad rumor.0 -
Kansas Permits you have to be a Kansas resident and they guys in Mo that got Permit out of Utah can't use them in Kansas. I think we only honor them from the state you reside in. 0 -

That would require changing the law and I'm sure it would have been publicized loudly if such a change was proposed.0 -

Concur on the "states that you plan on being in" scenario. Everything else really doesn't matter. Check before you roll/vacation, etc. Joe 0 -
