I live at the end of the line near Glenmont metro (I could walk - 20 minutes). If I took the train to Fairfax (end of the line at Vienna), it would take an hour and 40 minutes. So today is 1 day where that would have been a good choice.

We got about 4 inches here in South Bend last night. The roads were a mess. It took me about 16 minutes to get to work instead of the usual 13.

Took me 3.5 hrs to ride the boundry and some of the interior woods on the 450 foreman today. 600 acres total. whew..saw about 20 deer..huge red tailed hawk and several Turkey Vultures eating a decomposing doe..riding in about 4" of new snow was nice..why couldn't it have snowed last week during gun season..[V]..filled up 6 feeders with corn, ran out 3 flying squirells from the upright feeders..little thieves..[:D]..Loko

I sure don't miss the daily commute to and from work! It's nice to be retired and have the luxury of traveling off-traffic hours or just staying home.

I'm sure traffic is much worse in the DC area than it was in the late 70's when I was there. I had an easy commute down Lee Highway from Fairfax to a place just inside the Beltway, about 5 miles.
