rcbs or lee

i have a mix of rcbs and lee dies for reloading, and an old rockchucker press. need to buy dies for 8mm mauser as shells are 25.00 a box, which is better in your opinion[?]

    RCBS has replaced parts of my dies many times at no charge. I'm not certain if Lee will do this or not. I have only one set of Lee dies, for the 7.7 Jap, tried to reform .30-06 brass with them, failed, contacted Lee, they answered that the dies were not meant for reforming. So I'm sticking with RCBS. Or Lyman.

    In my opinion you can't beat Lee dies plus they don't charge an arm and a leg for them. Also the Lee Factory Crimp Die is the best thing to hit the market in many years for reloaders.

    In my experience both load ammo of similar quality and accuracy for military weapons. I can't comment on precision bench rest- but then again that isn't what you are doing. So that said, for me it is a cost question, and in that vein, Lee, hands down. Damned near impossible to break their decapping pin if you accidentally get a berdan shell in the mix- RCBS's will just crumple up. Lee will replace for free for the first year, and thereafter at half price.

    I also like Lee's lock ring system- no allen wrenches to play with.

    So far as reforming brass, I've run a lot of 06 brass into Lee dies to reform to 7.7 Jap, 7.65 argentine, and 8mm Mauser. They work fine. I don't know what issue you were having but it's not really a hard conversion and any sizing die should prove sufficient.

    I have some of both. if i have the money RCBS if i dont LEE

    And if the 3 die set include the factory crimp die LEE all the way
    they also make some desent neck sizing dies

    IIRR Lee has a lifetime replacement warranty

    Lee dies are the only thing I use. I see no need to spend two or three times the money for something when I don't have to. They work perfect for me.

    The two best dies in America both start with an "R". One is RCBS, and the other is Redding. Those are followed by Dillon and Hornady. No where in my reloading vocabulary, or dictionary will you find the word LEE. Best

    I'm not sure why the Lee failed, and I'm not complaining about that, what I objected to was the brush-off I received from Lee, instead of asking what the immediate problem was and giving any advice which would correct the problem. If I have a problem with any of the RCBS dies, I reach a courteous person who asks what the problem is and if parts are the solution they are in the mail to me in short order, at no charge.

    Hard to beat Lee dies in my opinion. Especially there Deluxe Die set that comes with both full-length and neck sizing dies.

    My preference is RCBS and I've used RCBS for at 40+ years, so I think I'll stick with them. I bought dies for every caliber gun I've ever owned and never got rid of the dies even if I no longer owned guns in that caliber.
