Anchor Babies act now
Birthright Citizenship Act of 2007 (HR 1940) Has 57 Co-Sponsors. Bug Your Congressman To Sign On
Time to push for some serious reform and that could start with the end of the abuse of the 14th amendment to the Constitution that is currently being used to allow children of illegal aliens to be born American citizens.
The fact of the matter is that if the parents are illegal aliens and they sneaked into this country illegally, then they are criminals and should be deported. Just because they happen to have a baby here should not give that baby automatic US citizenship which then allows the parents to claim hardship for legal status and allows them to obtain millions of taxpayer dollars in services for their anchor baby.
The 14th amendment was introduced into the Constitution to allow slaves to become US citizens after the emancipation. Since then it has been misused for decades to allow literally millions of illegal alien anchor babies - and their illegal parents and families - to remain in this country.
So far HR 1940, the Birthright Citizenship Act of 2007 introduced in April, 2007 to end the practice of abuse of birthright citizenship, has 57 cosponsors. It was introduced by Representative Nathan Deal of Georgia.

I've thought this for years regarding the 14th, but there is going to be significant problem getting the legislation approved by the SCOTUS. With the spate of recent 5-4 rulings, and the long standing precedent of conferring citizenship on anchor babies, is a law sufficient? I agree that it is a start, and a good one. At a minimum, a vote in 2007 or 2008 will establish a demarcation between us and them.0 -
Anyone else notice that the vast majority of those Reps are from southern states? 0 -
Im glad to see a couple from california![:D] 0 -
Mine is there![8D] 0 -
Sounds like a decent enough bill.
What I don't understand is why "anchor babies" are a problem in the first place.
Given that minors are not legally entitled to do a lot of things (sign contracts, own firearms, smoke, drink, get married, etc.), why is it that the children of illegal aliens can dictate whether or not their illegal parents stay?
After all, when we catch some scumbag rapist or murderer, we don't let them off scott free if they have kids. Why are illegal immigrants any different?
Ship all illegals home - what happens to their kids is neither my concern nor my responsibility.0 -
