    My younger brother, an Army grunt who has dealt with many IED'S, had previously told me that the technology doesn't work. Too his knowledge it had only worked in combat one time. This was a few months ago when we were discussing it.

    That may well be true as I tend to believe onsite guys more than pubs, but the idea is sound and fesible. Perhaps a new threat program and operator tactics have been updated.

    Even if this technology works perfectly, it won't stop a hard-wired pressure plate bomb.

    In an effort to avoid a serious OPSEC violation, I'll just say that isn't the COOLEST IED countermeasure. Good stuff though. There's better.

    Interesting use for the Prowler. We had the EA-6's aboard the Midway (CVA-41) anytime we were in the Gulf of Tonkin. Of course they were used for ECM missions against SAM's, AA, and intercept/detection radar back then, but it is logical that they would attempt to expand its mission for defending against IED's. Even in the early 70's it was a very sophisticated aircraft for the time. I believe the squadrons that transitioned aboard the Midway were Marine Corps squadrons.
