Perhaps it would be more fair should you have added a conservative page to your post. What I'm saying is that by leaving the "liberal" side unmentioned, you paint them as near angelic... AND THIS IS JUST NOT SO!
Let's look at the Bush family for a moment. I'm not defending them in any way, but published facts are sometimes skewed to make the author's point. The point remaining unmentioned, and perhaps a counterpoint, is a history of the Kennedy clan. Or maybe a brief history of the Clinton crew. (There are lots of others.)
I look at it this way... In searching my family history I find that I'm eligible for membership in the SAR (Sons of the American Revolution). I'm also be eligible for the Canadian equivalent as a bonafide loyalist because of the exact same family ties.
You see, my ancestors were a smart and practical lot. They owned holdings of value and realized that one side or the other was going to be victorious. Being on the wrong side would likely cost personal property. Thus, half became loyalists and half became patriots. A decade after the war the family was mostly reunited and nobody suffered confiscation of property. Laughable today, but there's a message here. One that applies as much today as 230 years ago.
There was a time when the outcome of WW2 was entirely up for grabs. No matter the morality, no matter who were the "good guys", no matter anything, there was going to be a victor. Life and business would go on. This is an unalterable truth.
From a moral standpoint I understand why ties to business under Axis control were unacceptable. But business isn't moral. Business is business and deals with the political system as best it can. Don't think for a moment that Axis business didn't do the same.
It's easy to pillory a Bush or a Kennedy on a personal level for not doing what was morally correct... today. It might be somewhat harder to do this should we be speaking German and flying the swastika in 2007. Further, should we be under Axis control and living in poverty because men like Bush imposed personal morals on business, then they'd still be pilloried for not having the best interest of their fellow man at heart.
A man who has nothing has an easy moral compass to follow. Christ pointed this fact out on more than one occasion. A rich man, on the other hand, has a much more difficult path to follow. An almost impossible path, in fact.
I'm not making excuses for anyone here. I'm merely pointing out that there are very few saints in this world. Fewer still with money and power. Are you so willing to be morally correct as to have nothing? What if it was your fortune that was about to disappear because of a decision you had to make?
Don't cast too many stones before you answer these things for yourself.0 -
Different groups and historical events, not just published facts, still tied into the Bush family history...

You fail to get my point. Perhaps you have an agenda that you've failed to share with us?
Publish all you wish about anyone's ancestors and you'll probably to come up with dirt... Or make dirt out of the facts. Either way you're not being really honest.
Should you find that you're related to Christopher Columbus, does that make you a bad guy if your family somehow benefited from the fact? Am I a bad guy because of a family decision made 270 years ago?
Following what seems to be your logic, I suspect that you stand in favor of reparations for the descendants of slaves. Get your checkbook out my friend, but don't expect the same of me.0 -
Over the last 50 years, I have given several dollars to black folk who stand in rags in the street with cups held out to me.
I am quite comfortable with my relationship to the reparations I owe to them.

Sorry, none of the above, just read what is put out for all to see, thats all, no agenda, just who's in charge and what they have and will do.
Maybe some haven't seen this all laid out over the timelines of history and the people and groups of people involved.
Just found it interesting what the Bush family has done and will do.0 -

Doing my family Geneaology, I find that I am related - so, how come I ain't Rich? (or in jail?) 0 -
Here is an article with more information about the Bushes and their kind. When you have time to settle in for a good read regarding how big-money highjacked the American way of life from the git go here's a very good start with the article "Neo-fascism in America" by Jim Macgregor, a Scotsman who has studied Ameica for forty years:

All of which is just about what I said... Business will survive despite anything else. Look at China. They may conquer all of Asia, but business will conquer them. There are no morals in business and politics really don't matter if you control the purse strings of government.
As to the US, I'm not sure that I can much disagree. The difference here is that we're free to take either the blue pill or the red one. At least those of us who don't "owe the man" are free to do so.
Which brings up slavery. We're now a nation of slaves. We've largely bonded ourselves. Volunteer slaves if you will. The mortgage, the car loans, the college loans, the credit card debt... We're the ones who stepped forward and signed on the line. We've willingly put the collar around our own necks.
And there are a few of us who don't play the game. That's the real freedom here. Maybe we didn't need a pill to see reality. Maybe we were just lucky. Who knows?
I, myself, have no illusions about freedom here in the US. While it may easily be perceived as a free state our country is anything but, yet it still maintains that perception. All one need to do is interact with government or the courts, or the IRS to find out this fact.
Having said what I did, I still find the US to be one of the best countries in the entire world. I don't find the activities of the Rockefeller's or the Bush family to be particularly unnerving as I rather understand their roots. I don't find them benign, but neither do I find them evil for the most part.
My choice in life has been to understand our system and work within it. This doesn't mean that I like it, nor do I endorse it. At this late stage of life I accept what I see. I don't see George Bush as overtly evil, nor do I believe that he might be conscious of exactly what motivates his decisions.
In my humble opinion he sincerely believes that his actions are for the universal good. And what applies to the Bush family applies to the other powerful families equally. The difference being that their "universal good" might just be a lot better than that of the common citizen.0 -
It's ugly any way you cut it, nord. 0 -

Ugly? Yup!0 -
Yep it all true...
But at least you are alive..
If you know the truth about the Clinton's
you are DEAD!!!0 -
I don't know how true all of this is, but you cannot hold a person's family history against them. My family was an extremely wealthy southern family and owned slaves at one time...this does not mean I did. I am not prejudice at all and I abhor the idea of slavery...should I be judged b/c something my ancestors did.?.? 0 -
Rest assured... You can and you will!
There will always be those out there who somehow qualify themselves to judge you. Luckily they're always from a totally innocent background... Or they judge you by different standards than they judge themselves.
Strange how that works.0 -
This just goes to show that anybody can post anything on the internet and some loon will pass it on as gospel. I read the link and about 90% of it pure fiction.
Notice the thin evidence("classified documents from Dutch intelligence and US government archives"..yeah, right) and endless repetition of liberal myth (Although forbidden by congress to do so, he continued to sell chemical and biological weapons to Saddam"). When an accusation is sourced, the source is just another wacko conspiracy website.
Big mango--just because some nut has a website and an abundance of time to make up crap about the Bush family doesn't make any of it true.0 -
For the record, I was not present when my great-great grandfather stole those horses. I also have no recollection of that pair of binoculars my father never returned during WW II. Can we talk about something else now? 0
