What's a good .45 ACP lever action?
I don't own any lever actions at the moment, but I'd really like one that's .45 ACP. The reason that I want a .45 ACP is because I already own several guns in that cal, and this way, when I go ammo shopping it makes things easier. Any input is appreciated as always. Let me know what you have, the pros and the cons, and the price range for that model. Thanks!

Do they even make a lever action 45 acp? Get one in 38/357 ammo is cheap for those.
And I'm willing to bet the same store you buy 45 acp will have 38 or 357.[:o)][:o)]0 -

Check the November 2007 Guns and Ammo magazine... in the Reader's Forum on page 10, letter "Cops and Carbines". The guy says .45ACP, and it got me thinking... unless he was talking about a carbine in general, but it looked at first like he's talking about a lever. [:D] 0 -
Suggest a 45 LC, 44 mag, 44-40 or 38-40
The 44 mag is very versatile allowing you to use the fun 44 specials for the days you want to use a milder more loving load.0 -

a quick search of the auction site reveals many lever-action firearms in .45 colt and 45/70, but none in .45ACP 0 -

One more on no lever... but it would work. 45 is same case head as 308, and the browning blr is available in that (and others)... don't think tube feed would work though...
If you want a 45 carbine, maybe one of the AR units (glock mag lower from olympic, convert uzi mags, etc), a camp 45, i've heard rumor of an iver johnson m1 carbine in 45acp (i've seen on in 9mm that takes browning mags), or convert a mauser or similar to 45 (rhineland arms used to sell kits...), or one of the upper replacements for a 1911.0 -

They actually DO make a .45acp lever gun. You insert these moon clips into the receiver under the........[:D][:D]
Seriously, however, If I were you I would get either the Marlin lever action .45LC or .357mag or else the Uberti clone of the Winchester Model 1873 (one of its about 15 different variants available). If you decide to go with the Uberti, be sure that the distributer it comes from is either Cimmaron or Taylor's.
The Marlin works just fine, and is the least expensive of the two guns. Most people I know complain about the Marlin's stiff action. This can be easily fixed with a spring kit available online from either Brownells or MidwayUSA for not too much $.0 -
It would be possible to make a .45 ACP lever-action carbine, but it would have to feed from a box magazine, not a tube. Additionally, the action would have to be more like a BLR action than anything else. The .308 cartridge has, as somebody else has already mentioned, quite similar base dimensions to the .308, which has been successfully chambered in the BLR lever-action rifle. Of course, the BLR is not the only successful rimless cartridge lever-action. For example, there have also been lever-actions such as the Marlin 62, chambered in the rimless .30 Carbine cartridge of WWII. The following is an image of the Marlin 62, chambered in .30 Carbine. 
Therefore, a .45 ACP lever-action, though not currently available in any current (or past) lever-action designs, is quite a feasible design. I myself would actually be quite interested in such a carbine if such a one were to become available.0 -
Marlin 1894 P's were made in 357 Mag, 44 Special/Mag, and 45 colt.

I'd get one of those Pumas, made by Rossi for an importer, in a heartbeat. Had one in .44 mag many years ago, and they now have one in .454 Casull that would eat high-power .45 LC all day. Pretty reasonable, and it's essentially a copy of the Browning-designed Winchester 92. Too bad they added a stupid-looking safety to a gun that doesn't need one. The wood used to be kinda ugly, but they are looking better lately.
There never will be a .45 acp lever gun, because there is no market for one.0
