Always nice to return to the Golden State!

When you come back from the north, you are always
greeted by our 'Northern Sentinel.'
Spectacular, as usual!

Thanks Jim - great trip!

Although Mt. Shasta looks nice, I do not care to see that state again!
I left there 2 1/2 years ago and have no desires to ever go back!0 -

I've made out with many women right there.[;)] It's supposedly haunted also. Heck I lived in Troutdale for some of my childhood.0 -
I've got 'beach withdraw!' Need Coppertone and some eye candy!
LOTS OF EYE CANDY![8D][:D][8D]0 -
California sure is beautiful. Great people live there, wonderful scenery, right-thinking politics, good roads, low labor costs and sumptuous homes.
How were you ever able to drag yourselves away ??
I think I've convinced myself to move back, and get the hell out of this hell-hole they call "Orygun".
Glad y'all are having a good vacation !!

Doug...that was the funniest thing I have read today!
I have spent a little time in northern California, not much, but enough. Still have some great friends that live outside San Francisco. I am still amazed at the scenery when I visit. Has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. Most of the people I know there are great. But dang the politics of the place! Why is it that the most beautiful places on the planet get most of the wackos? [:D]0 -

The West Coast has been a magnet for liberals for 30+ years. It took them a long time to overcome the rugged rancher types that made the trip back in a time where survival was a 50/50 proposition. Early settlers were very independent and shunned government control. Then the liberal Eastern folks discovered the West and brought the kind of advanced thinking that exists today in New York City and other huge metropolitian areas in the East.
Oregon is undergoing the same change, Seattle is already lost and Portland is now called the Mass of the West. Interesting times!
The ranchers and farmers that populate the majority of Oregon are still independent and conservative, but the larger % of people live in Portland, Eugene, Salem and Corvallas. They are liberal city dwellers and are mostly from someplace else. They now have overcome in numbers the folks who work the land and resent government control.
Oregon's city dwellers look for security in big government, more welfare and legal control. Our politics have gone over to the dark side.
Many who reside in Oregon came from California, the Bay area and other large cities. They escaped from the traffic jams and overpopulation that now exists! The sad part is that they brought their politics with them and are turning Oregon into the the same massive enviormental control zone that California has become. That means we eat only Vegies and ride bicycles. You get the trend!
In the end it appears that large population growth leads to socialism and regulation. It is spreading across America and will soon be in a large city near you.[:(]0 -

Today, Sig will receive an "A" for his insightful political commentary.
Good job.

Jeeeeesh! THIS is what makes things around here so interesting ... just about everything, including the 'I've got an itch on my thang!' or 'Something done climbeded my leg and BIT
me in my thing!'
.... it's ALL here folks - step up folks - for just the price of one thing nickel you can get all the entertainment you want![:o)]
Also, somebody here asked me why I live where I live ... not long ago.
Here's all that I could come up with on such short notice - here's the short list.
Boy, that's a tough one ... no one answer, fer sure. Just a bunch of little things, I
guess.
Probably, because the average temperature around here is about 72?F during the
'hottest months' of the year. Probably, because the weather is mild all year around.
Probably, because there aren't any biting flies or mosquitos where I live. Probably,
because there are mountains just 50 minutes away by car - beautiful deserts an
hour away - the largest ocean in the world 14 minutes away - a foreign country
30 minutes away. Probably, some of the finest hunting you could wish for close by.
Probably, because there are 22 miles of beaches here in San Diego full of beautiful
college co-eds from three enormous universities and about 10 community colleges.
Probably, because we don't have to contend with hurricanes, ice storms, blizzards,
snow, lightening storms, hail, floods, wind storms. Probably, because there are no
tornados or humidity in the summer or water rationing. Probably - and a big one -
because I like ocean/sports fishing/salmon fishing and to boat around in a sea
of water instead of a little puddle down the road in 'Hoedunk.' Probably, because I
still SCUBA dive a few times a year with my sons and there just 'ain't nothin' like
a dive in the kelp beds on a clear sunny day. Probably, because I can water ski on
the ocean, bay(s), lakes, or Colorado River if I want - or snow ski close by. Probably,
because the second largest American city in the country is 120 miles north of here.
Probably, because I can eat any kind of exotic cuisine I want to - and find it just
minutes away. Probably, because the state is the size of Japan or England. Probably,
because the world's biggest zoo (actually two of them) are here. Probably, because
there is a huge Sea World here. Probably, because one of the most beautiful parks
and botanical gardens is just 15 minutes away. Probably, because there is a world
class oceanographic institute here. Probably, along with Sea World, there is a world
class state of the art aquarium here, too. Probably, because Yosemite and the Giant
Redwood forests are here as well as the Yuba and Feather Rivers and all the fun that
goes along with them. Probably, because we have more Indian casinos than any other
county in the country. Probably, because Las Vegas is 40 minutes away by air/an easy
drive by car.
... did mention whale watching, Disneyland or Universal Studios - and soon our own huge studio just 20 minutes north of where we live?
... otherwise, I probably wouldn't live here, either.

See, everybody - that's where we should all move !!
Go ahead... I'll catch up in a bit.

Stopped at Pea Soup Anderson's today - was served by the
most beautiful/cuteist 21 year old Russian exchange student
in the world. I told her all about my lonely/wealthy 'cousin'
living alone in the woods ... a wolf hunter ... in a deep/dark
forest ... far, far to the north. She perked up at that!
... she wants to meet you ... can I send her your address?
... things would pickup a bit in good ole McMinneville -
fer sure!
Gale wouldn't let me adopt her - so - you're the first guy I
though of ... I'm afraid of Deb ... so, I still haven't thought
about Sig (even) yet![:o)]0 -

a typical day in my neck of the woods.0 -
You can send me her pic (I know you have some) and THEN we'll see about sending her anything from me.

The food would have been better, but the waitresses probably wouldn't have been as good looking and you wouldn't have met the cute Russian exchange student.[:D]0
