Ok all you Ford Experts.....
I got a set of 4 barrel Cleveland heads. What are they worth in rebuilt condition?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Maybe $300 for the pair. 0 -
Fair value would be based on which head you have. Are they the closed chamber or open chamber? Look for a casting number, something like DOAE- ? for closed chamber and D1ZE-DA or AA for open chamber. Then there's the exotic D1ZE-B which is the BOSS head.
What their worth could vary widely depending on these casting numbers.0 -
There are 351M heads and engines(for sissies) and there are 351 Cleveland 2bbl heads (thats more like it) and then there are 4 bbl Clevland heads on a 351C (now your running with the big dogs) which were the holy grail before the days of aluminum heads.
There has been many an uninformed shade tree mechanic who have claimed the M and the C were the same motor. Such a person has never studied them and never drove them or hotrodded them. Comparing the 351M to a 351C is like comparing the Chevy 305 to the 350- a poor excuse for an engine thanks to the EPA!
The 351C with the 4 bbl heads was a SCREAMER. Huge intake and exhaust ports, I don't remember the valve size offhand.
I don't know what they are worth now but they used to be worth a premium, they have to be somewhat of a collectible now. The Boss heads are a different beast and worth even more.0 -
I would think they would be worth a fair amount.
Warpig,my uncle has a 352 ford engine was in a pickup that thing was pretty snotty. whats the deal on them.0 -
The 352 was a "FE" style motor. The old school Ford Big Block. The 332,352,360,361 truck,390,406,410,427,428 were all FE motors.
I had a 352 in a 64 Galaxy 500. It was a 4 door. We cut in in half right behind the front seat and put a homemade flatbed on it, made it into a pickup. It was a 4bbl motor and a pretty fast and very light pickup. A friend of mine got it stuck sideways on the one lane bridege crossing the Missouri River at Yankton around the winter of 1983 or 1984. It was kind of trashed after that night.
I have had cars with the 332,352,390 and 410.
The 410 I had was in a Mercury Park Avenue HP car and it was a police interceptor. Even found a 428 stamp on the crank when we tore it down. I put it in a 76 F150 with full time 4wd and it would spin all four tires on pavement with no problem when it was stock with 80,000 miles on it.
The famous and most powerful of the FE motors was the 427. Yowzer!
Enough on big block Fords.
A buddy and me owned a 65 Mustang with a 221 V8. Probably the least known Ford V8 and more heart than any other. That tiny thing would run ALL DAMN DAY at over 100mph and get 21 mpg gallon doing it! We ground the holes in the head bigger and stuffed in .202 chevy valves with a narly cam and took it to the track. The only other mods were headers and a 600 Holley and aluminum intake. We also coiled the fuel line in a can which we filled with ice (old school hot rod trick). That 221 cubic inch Ford ATE 350 chevys all damn day on the track or street! We sold it to Telstar Motors in Mitchell (Mustang Restorers). Damnit I wish I had that thing. I just may have to go on a quest to find me a 221 Ford V8 and go hotroddin again!0 -
Yeah, I'll have to get the engineering # off of them. I was too lazy to get them down off the shelf before I posted this. They're 4 barrel Cleveland(closed chamber) heads off a 69 Mustang. Just bumped into a guy that's interested in them. Might see what kinda shootin iron he's got. 0 -
It's all Bush's fault. 0 -
really its all Hnery Fords fault. 0 -
I had a 64 1/2 Mustang fastback with a Hi-Po solid lifter 260 in it. It was a 4 speed with 3.56 gears and a 4 barrel. I bought it new. It was pretty fast in its' day.
I have never seen the 260 Hi-Po listed in any shop manual or reference work.

--I screwed up because it was WAY to much HP and torque for a ZF transaxle--But if I could make it between gas stations it went KIND OF FAST--

--Heat was also a problem, O well the old days--

According to my part #'s list the '69 was a Windsor. Clevelands didn't come out until '70. But then it could have been a late '69 also. Same sort of thing as my '62 T-Bird haveing the '61 dash pad and the 390 PI engine.
Drag them down and post the casting number and I'll look them up for ya'.0 -

I would hope. Maybe not with the street tires. It hasn't seen a track since it was finished last year.0 -
if you lived near me they would be worth 400. 0
