Pretty sure I've got another one. Awake at 6am with a sore back. Pain level slowly ramping up which usually means my kidney is blocked and trapped urine is making it swell up like a balloon. I'm about 50/50 on whether I pass them or if they form at the top of the ureter next to the kidney and are too big to pass. What really bites is I am out of pain killers. My urologist no longer treats men so I have to find a different one. Looking forward to a few hours of excruciating pain until I can convince some new doctor I am not a drug addict looking for pills. Using a large back massager to thump away over my right kidney to hopefully jiggle something loose. Sometimes that works. I have a really high tolerance for pain but I can't stress enough how much I hate using it.0 -
yesterday I had 2 stones blasted with shockwaves. This week I get to pee through a strainer as I force liquids down. I have a stent in which makes it feel like I swallowed a pencil. Staying home today but maybe back to work tomorrow. 0 -
Just had my third one in eight years. This one was not very fun, but I did not miss any work; though I was pretty sour about life in general. My first one had me in the emergency room feeling like I had been gutshot. Bad, bad deal for anyone to go through. Any one here with any interesting K/S stories of their own??

I have been on Vacation this last week and we went to Ga. to the hunt camp to hang feeders and set out stands. The wife and I went out to dinner last Sat. night and on the way home she got in alot of pain and asked me to take her to the ER so I did. They said she has kidney stones. Its been a week and they are not passing. She has been drinking lots of fluids but nothing. Yesterday we got home and I took her to our regular doctor. He is going to run some kind of tests to see where the stones are and what to do about them. What causes the stones and does anybody know of anything that will help the stones to pass quickly? 0 -
anybody had them what do they feel like I THINK I'M GONNA FLIP OUT HERE! 0 -
From zero to doubled over gut-wrenching pain in under two seconds. Not a fun way to spend your Sunday.[:(][:(][:(] 0 -

JABRONIJ3, I have had them but in my new transpanted kidney, its not in the same location as the original two,but pains are sharp and steady throughout my abdomen, bad is an understatement, drink plenty of water if you feel like you cant go p... you might have one blocking your urethra go to the er if this happens. stay really well hydrated, this will only help you pass this stone what are your pain symptoms?0 -
FIRST HAPPENED THUR NIGHT ABOUT 10 PM THEN RELIEF AROUND 11 THEN AGAIN AROUND 2 AM NASEAU extreme pain in lower left abdomen radiating to my back up my side and some times into the groin area MY WIFE HAS HAD THE STOMACH FLU THOUGHT THAT WAS IT UNTIL THIS HIT ME A COUPLE HOURS AGO 0 -
Nope, never had them myself.
I've heard they hurt like hell. So if you're wondering, you probably don't have a kidney stone. On the other hand, if it does hurt like hell....go see your doctor.0 -

they say its the closest a man can come to childbirth {pain] and i believe it!!!!!!! hope all is well JABRONI [;)]0 -
Drink lotsa beer, it makes you pee like a racehorse and will aid in the delivery of your uric acid crystal baby.
Its an old fashion method doctors used to use. It works well.0 -
I had one about 8 years ago. I didn't know what it was and layed in bed with excruciating pain for about 7 hours before going to the ER. They said it was a kidney stone, gave me some pain meds, and sent me home. I took time off from work and stayed drugged up for about 2 days until I passed it (They gave me a funnel with a screen in it to Pee in). With the pain killers I didn't feel a thing. It looked like a little asteroid. Haven't had one since. Doc said drinking lots of beer helps prevent them. [:D][:D][:D] 0 -
I've had them also. It's the most intense pain I have ever felt. You cannot get comfortable. I suggest obtaining some very strong pain pill's. Very strong. 0 -
My wife is an L&D nurse, has had two children totally natural and has had kidney stones. She said the stone pain was as bad as all natural birth, just didn't last as long. Other L&D nurses/mothers that she knows who have also had stones have said the same thing. 0 -

Had my first encounter with them last September. Your description is spot on. ER guy gave me a couple of shots and I was able to go home and sleep. Pain came and went for a week. He gave me Vicodin but it didn't do anything. Believe it or not, the Advil worked best. Passed three stones 8 days later, about 36 hours after the pain stopped. They were about the size of those statues on Easter Island. Your getting the best possible advice - Drink water 'til you feel like you'll burst, go to the ER if you can't stand the pain, take whatever works for you and figure on not doing a helluva lot this coming week but watching TV and sleeping.0 -
If you're typing , don't know if it's stones. I remember when my brother got them and he pretty much dropped in place wherever he was when the pain kicked in. Once the pain subsided a little he was so warn out from the pain he didn't do anything but lay down. He actually had to go get his electrically shocked (to break it up) b/c it was to big to pass. 0 -
li still hurts just not intense burns when I urinate, was worn out took a nap after the liquid tylenol if childbirth is anything close to this and I were a woman and a man asked me for sex I would kill him on the spot! this crap hurts 0 -
When you actually pass them - and you no doubt will - I'm told by many who have had them that it's pretty much like pushing a 3" broken chard of window glass through your johnson.[:0][:0][:0]
The trick, as I understand it, is to take medication to hopefully shrink them as much as it possible beforehand.
Good luck!0 -

gee, that sounds real handy[xx(]0 -
Last August I spent nine days passing at least 25 stones. Most were small ones, passing in 1-3 hours. Nine were raging monsters, lasting up to 16 hours. Its a great way to lose weight, I lost 27LB in 9 days. That was my third bout with them and definitely the worst. The advice given here is dead on, but I might add to get an anti-nausea drug to go with the pain killer. Drink water til you think you're gonna drown, then drink some more. One thing that sucks is knowing that it will happen again but never knowing when. 0 -
My first kidney stone was the size of a soccer ball, how it got so small in the strainer cup I dont know. [8D]
If you dont know what ya got go see a Dr, it could be lots of things and some of them are far worse than the pain they cause.
I do not give that advise easily, I myself would rather smash Mr Winky in a door jam before I go see a Dr. [:o)]0 -
Had at least four separate episodes with right kidney. Pain in the kidney advancing around rt side to abdomen. Cold sweat, nausea &
serious pain. Stones looked like the gravel you take out of a faucet
screen; small but full of sharp edges. The pain you feel is from stones travelling from the kidney to the bladder.
I didn't feel any come out so you have to catch them in a cardboard funnel with a screen on bottom.
Mine analyzed as calcium oxylate not uric acid.
Last episode had me waiting in line at an ER in back of Blacks and illegals who use the ER for pimples on the a$$. They don't triage. Three or four hours later when they got to me the stones had passed.
It was recommended you get better service if you arrive by ambulance.0 -
I have a good friend that thought he had died because of kidney stones. He is a big strong fellow, and they kept him bent double. He was taken to the emergency room to begin his treatment. If I were you, I'd get to the doctor, soon. 0 -
wait till they stretch it out , clamp it down , and go up it with their rotorouter. damn talk about embarrassing . after their done they just might check your prostate for the fun of it [:0][:0][:0][:(!][;)][B)][:D] 0 -

Sadly, for those of us who either pay for medical insurance or at least pay for our medical bills out of our pocket, what you describe in red is probably going to happen more and more often. Not only to us, but even worse, to our loved ones whom we rush to the ER when they desperately need immediate attention.
Just one more advantage of the tide of illegals swamping our country. Even slow medical care here is better than what they get in their home country. (Hey! I didn't mention any particular country!)0
