Most likely he will have to use at least a 62 gr .223 bullet to pull this off at 1,000 yards. If you have a better suggestion let me know which brand and gr.
Hes asking me about scopes that will group at 1000, and wants to know about front and rear sights that can solid group with in a dime at 800 yards.
I've never used an AR for hunting but it sounds like hes going to.
The question is. Does anyone know a good scope set up with fine crosshairs at 1000 yards? And a good front rear sight combo at 800 yards or more? Don't forget the ammo combo.

What makes you decide on a Colt 6920?
The reason I ask is because if you have done enough research on AR15 models to have narrowed it down to one model then you should have enough information to know that that is double what they sell for.
If you havn't done research on AR15 models and just fell in love with the Colt 6920 then I can see why you would ask, but you really should look somewhere else to make your purchase.
You shouldn't have any trouble finding one for under 1200.000 -
