New purchase. Atten:LOKO383
Here are some pix of the Chevy from another post I mentioned.

Dana 44 or Dana 60? Who can tell me.

It's a 1985 Silverardo trim. It has AC,PS,PW,AT,CC.
It has a rebuilt 355 w/Elderbrock carb and intake,400 turbo w/B&M shift kit and torque convertor, and 203 tranfers case all from a 85 one ton.
It has a Corporate 14 bolt and Dana 44 axles from a 75 one ton.
I has new bumpers and mirrors and the body is a Geogria(sp?) body that is almost rust free. It's worst spot is the top. Everything is usable on the body. It's blue with a grey top and bottom. Bed is the best shape I've seen it's rust free and straight. Glass is good and most of the trim is good and usable. I has a new dual exhaust, but it looks like crap. think he did it himself, no biggy.
Almost everything works in the interior, it needs a new seat cover and a dash to be in great shape.
The tires are 35 Swampers, the lift is 4 years old. All it really needs is paint.

Traci, lookin good, yea i would say you got a good start on a very nice rust free trk, Doug is right on the ft 44 3/4 ton still strong and a good ft end, find you a small stock set of wheels and tires before you start your paint work it will lower it down and make it easier to work on the body, check and see if the thermostat housing is tight, dont over tighten it just snug it down, reason, the rusty stain/puddle on the intake on the passenger side, looks like water has leaked out when running and under pressure, take off those valve cover extensions on the bolts after snugging them down too,if you dont have teflon tape under them they will vibrate off,it looks good you got a super trk for your money, look around at the junk people want to sell you,yea now its lookin real good huh! all i can say is come on lets hit the mud, dont worry i have a big tow strap to pull ya out with!!![}:)][}:)] [jk] LOKO,[ my burban has the same ft/rr ends as your trk dana 44,corp 14 see the hubs][now compare my trk w/dana60 ft hub]
[img][/img]
[img][/img]
does your trk have the full floating hub protruding thru the rear wheel? there were two diff. 14 bolt rear ends one/with hub one with out, alot of 3/4 tons had either, one w/has a 10.5" ring gear strongest, one w/out has a 9.5" rg. one tons always had full floater hubs on rr,just like a dually, only single rr wheels,

Here are pix of the rear axle. I think it's the full floater. Can you tell if I have the 10.5 or the 9.5 ring gear. Is it true that the Corporates had Detroit lockers stock? Does anyone know?

TRACI, nice rear end,[the trk,i mean], from the pic i can't tell does the rr hub stick out thru the wheel? at least 4",if so it is a 10.5" if not and it is flush or flat its 9.5",still 3/4 ton and strong enough for what you will do with it. no detroit lockers only came in military 1 tons they all had 4:56 gears like the one in my gmc, yours could have a positive traction rr or posi as everyone calls them, your rear brake hose is too short[with the red x] it needs to be changed to a longer rubber one or to a braided stainless steel one at least 6" longer than stock,if you go off road and articulate the rear suspension ie drop in a big hole,it could break the rubber hose and leave you with no rr brakes, with that being said you better check the two ft hoses also from the frame down to the calipers. the junction box circled needs to bolt to the rr end cover not just hang in mid air like they have left it,it will require you to shorten or bend the drivers side line that goes out to the brake drum,ie the lines should be equal length and meet at the top of the diff.cover, the hole in the junction box is for bolting it to the rr end,I know you said you would scrap the exhaust so..do it [lol] you may be able to use the mufflers over, they look like flowmasters or a knock off of them, welded seam mufflers seldom rust out,run them out the rear, turn them out behind the rr tires, that vent tube for your rr endneeds to be replaced it looks like its broken in half,ie the hose hanging down on the diff. cover, and the other half going up to the cross member. we got to find you some wheels too, to set your new ride off![8D]LOKO, Traci, you have mail [;)]

The hubs aren't flush, but I don't remember them sticking 4 inches out. I was thinking closer to two.
The guy told me he had 410 gears. I don't think he changed the gearing in the rears, so could they really be 456?
The broken vent tube was the first thing I notice when I was under it. It also has a bad bushing for the left rear shock. Can those be replaced? If not what kind of shock would you recommend. How much would those cost?
I also notice theres no bump stop. Tires would hit before anything. Do I need to replace the stoppers?
If I turn one wheel the other one turns the opposite direction, that means I have posi right?
There are at least 2 of the body mount bushing(guess that's what their called)missing. They look easy to replace.
What do you think about body lifts? I was thinking about doing a 2 to 3 in body lift and putting 37's on it.
Thanks

Traci, you have a limited slip,ie if you turned one rr wheel the other would turn in the same direction=posi, put a good gas charged shocks on it about 29.95- 39.95 a piece from 4 wheel parts.com don't put hydro's= [junk] pro comp, rancho are all good shocks etc,i personally would stay away from a body lift, most likely if you went with a body lift you would end up putting new body mnts all the way ft to back, you could probaby run 36" tires now on narrower wheels 16x8s, you can buy extended bump stops from daystar or rancho also 4wheelparts.com its doubtful that you have 4:56 gears, at 55-60mph you would be running 3000 rpm or a little less with 35s and 4:56 grs ,does your trk have a tach? also if you change the one rr shock you should change both or all four dont forget to tell them you have a 4" lift on it now, have you checked the air in the tires? run about 30-32lbs unless you have a load in it,look on the sidewall at suggested air press. thats figure is max so don't run max.unless you have a heavy load. you are right tires would hit on the way up but if you drop the rr end in a hole it will extended your springs and wheels down ie snapping your brake hose,or catching that junction box on some brush or sticks and tearing it off or making it leak. Loko[:D]you can get ss braided lines for your trk ft and back 6" over stock for around 150.00 from inline tubing 1-800-385-94520 -
Traci, for future reference dana 60s [1 ton ft ends] have a diff, spring mount plate where the orange arrow is,they also have two bolts going down thru the plate into the diff housing ,no u bolts where the red Xs are, easy to id by just looking, the hub and lock out selector will also be bigger in diameter by quite a bit,one ton single and dual wheel rr ends have 13" brake drums very obvious, they are large in width also the only diff. in dual wheeled models and single wheeled are the studs,ie duals have longer studs, and the spring mounting pads will be narrower on the 1 tons,ie closer to the differential itself, are you thinking about painting your trk back original colors? that is the easiest and cheapest way,pay special attention to that area above the windshield, best to take out the windshield and check for rust in the windshield groove, get new windshield rubber and trim[chrome] to reinstall it.Loko[:D]
