"Capt. Van Fussell, a Florida Highway Patrol district commander in Venice, Fla., accidentally shot himself in the foot as he was holstering his Glock pistol while taking his annual firearms test in November. (He'll have to take it over.)" From The Californian 12/21/02

Bad day for me too. Wife dropped me off to pick up my motorcycle at the repair shop & left to go shopping with my helmet in the back seat.
Kalif. requires a helmet to ride & I had to borrow one to ride 15 miles home to get a spare & then ride back to return the borrowed one. Of course it started to rain on my way back.

got rained out this morning and also have to go to the doctor to get fluid removed from both my knees. the needle hurts like hell drawing the fluid. they are going to try a new medicine on me ($300.00 a shot seris of three per knee) to avoid total knee replacement. got to go see ya later after i get back from the doc office[:(][:(]

If'n you don't mind me asking... how old are you? I trashed my knees hiking when I was a teenager, I'm about 5 years out from replacement according to the doc I saw back then (I'm 37 now), but not having any issues.

Also, don't try and avoid the TKA for forever. I used to work in PT in a hospital working with THA/TKA patients right after surgurey, one dude said that the TKA and what we did to him was worse then when he was captured by the Germans in WW2... but he was back to have his other knee done less than a year later...

Personally I'm going to avoid it for as long as possible, but when it becomes inevitable......

i am 56. i told the doctor that the knee replacement would be the very last thing i wanted to do . so he started me on cortizone once every three months. with that he also would remove the fluid . now he tells he no more cortizone, that i have had my limit. today i got the first of three shots, one next week and one the following. the new stuff is called hallagan, i think. it is supposed to be good for six months . at $300.00 a shot i hope so
