just finished trimming up my 4th tree today while it is warm out..got a harbor freight #68862 electric pole saw that has a built in setup ...lighter than the remington pole saw with removable 10" unit ....$75 and works great...some of their stuff is OK...use it off of extension cords or from the bucket on the truck 0 -
Do any of you know anything about a tree that grows real fast
I belive its called Royal Empress Tree My wifes wanting to get some for our place and someone told her about these Iv found some on the web thats says they grow up to 15' in a year wanted to know if anyone has any dealing with them.
A guy is selling the roots for $2 and a tree for about 2' tall for $15.00 but said the roots would be that tall in about 2 to 3 months.

how many of you live in an area with few, if any, trees?
I guess you get used to it but dang that would seem weird to me. I was on a plane the other day with a guy from Texas and he was marvelling at all the trees in Raleigh.0 -

Sugar Maples grow incredibly fast...and HUGE 0 -
...bk to top...Rule of thumb...usaually a tree that will grow "fast", as in mega feet per year around here, is a pretty weak tree; as for as standing up to the storms we have. Brittle, etc.

Richard it says they have a tap root that can grow 40' down look up Royal Empress Tree on the web. seems neat but like everyone said fast means weak but maybe not allways I may get a few of them and put out were they cant land on anything if they get blown down [}:)][:D]0 -

they grow on road sides in virginia along interstate 64 i have seen them, the wood is highly sought after for something it just escapes me at the momment ie [TOO MANY BLOODY MARYS TO THINK AND TYPE AT THE SAME TIME[:D]} 0 -
they are a one of the first species to grow back after an area has been cleared of trees ie sassafras,locust,sumac,then the hard woods come back ie maples ,hickorys,oaks,this would lead me to also beleive they were not very strong in terms of life expectancy yrs standing strong against the wind,that is correct about trees that grow fast per yr are weak natured,being a succesional {sp} tree would lead us too belive this also,hard woods always outlive the others,the bark on the ones i have seen look like sumac on steroids[:D] 0 -

and most b. pears lose limbs around 10 to 15 years old. a strong tree will have distance between unions. a b. pears unions are usually all clumped together. its a bad tree to expect to live long without wounds. 0 -
Royal Palonia, as advised above, not a strong tree. Take a look at the golden rain tree, fast and pretty nice looking, especially when in bloom. 0 -
Loko, Are you talking about a Red Bud ? They do not grow that fast but are something to see growing along the Western Kentucky Parkway, mixed with the white dogwoods. 0 -

NO cercis canadesis {red bud} and cornus florida [american dogwood} do not grow as big or tall as paulowina tomentosa-princess tree,it is an introduced species from the orient and the internal makeup is hollow pith like a sumac or catalpa ie weak ice and heavy snow would most likely break out branches and tops easily,it escapes easily by wind and birds carrying the seed and redistributing them along waste areas ie fresh clear cuts or roadsides0
