I'm not smart enough to really compare the two, but it seams to me its hard to compare those two, since the fall of communism wasn't a intentional terrorist attack on the US, on US soil.
Maybe a question might be; what had a bigger impact on the USA
the Attacks on 9-11 or the Attack on Pearl Harbor. The only two times in our history we have really been messed with on our own soil.

Yes I suppose that could count also, but as A nation were we fully established at that point in history as a major world power, as we were at the time of both of the bombings.

Oklahoma City bombing was horrifically egregious by nature. An act of terrorism from within and against our own.Certainly changed my opinion of my fellow Americans.

The loss of the US citizenship having an intrinsic value to illegals. We are a nation divided waiting for the end since 09-11-2001.

I went to far back with Pearl Harbor.
I just thought the comparison might be closer; How America reacted and responded as a nation, and what the end result was of our reaction as a nation.

Well I am thinking on how Europe has changed and the way of life after
communism destroyed Russia/soviet union. Then you have The Fall of the Berlin Wall, which will always be used as a symbol for the end of the Cold War.

Then we have 9/11. And we know what that has led to

Did this open the gate for the middle east conflict that is now changing our way of life?

the middle east conflict started roughly 1500 years ago, some historians will argue that was about 500 years ago. What's going on there now is just yet another skirmish. Again, you asked for the last 25 years, I agree with bobski and select-fire -- technological advance has played the biggest role in the world in the last 25 years.

So you think maybe that the fall of the USSR, and the unification of Germany helped propigate the spread of mid eastern terrorists?
I think that is a good possibility.
Maybe the terrorists feel less threatend and more opt to do what they want after such a powerfull nation who shares there borders gives up.
There still crazy and need to be dealt with.

You have put my thoughts in a nut shell![:D][^] I knew someone could bring it out the right way. Thanks!

This subject was on one of the AM radio talk shows today. What I got from the callers that had left Europe during the cold war that came to the U.S.. Were in fear of the Nuclear/race/war/Government collapse etc.

As one caller put its "911 I can jump the boarder from Mexico or Canada to the US (Comparing the Berlin wall) with out being killed."
"It's the same all over again like in my old country in a way, I need to watch my back from the police to the extremist someone is out to kill for an agenda"

    (He said something like that)
