Here's the problem: we have a corporation, who as Bpost says is there to make money, versus an American Citizen. What you fail to comprehend is the circle needs to be round. If it was the Utopia you suggest it could be then the USSR would still exist. The USSR was a total failure.

(A point to you about how Corporations simply do not give a damn about the country, community, heritage) I was denied that option when I came here. Now, as far as the differences in our opinion. The lawsuits in USA got rediculous. A man drinks DRANO, gets crippled and his family sues the manufacturer. A woman mixes up two drugs, poisons herself and sues the manufacturer. The price of the drugs in USA is high for two reasons: Medicate can't negotiate with pharmaceuticals (thanx to Neocon scum), trailor park trash wants to sue you for anything and everything, hense the insurance is very high. My moms favorite doctor stopped his practice because of his high insurance. He was an "Old school" doctor, the kind you see in old 50s movies, he never had a malpractice issue, but because of his age, his insurance premium was through the roof. Thats why it is expensive. I would reccomend that we do like Scandinavians countries. In case of serious neglegent malpractice, the doctor loses his license to practice medicine in any way shape or form. Few years back the doctor by mistake hacked off the wrong leg on the patient with bone care. Then he hacked off the right one. So, who cares if the patient got few million bucks, the doctor is still doing surgery. I have yet to hear a horror stories about Canada. Yes, the plastic surgery there is not free. My granfathers younger brother is in Vancouver. When a heart problem was found, he had no problems getting help. I thank Canadian doctors for that.
AS far as another issue. Let me explain to you that we are arguing over DIFFERENT issues. I say there needs to be a protection for working folks - Unions. You tell me that unions are screwed up now.
I agree with that. Those unions who didn't get destroyed are out of control. What we are arguing about is pretty much a need of salt in your soup. Do you need salt? Yes. What happens if you put too much or too little salt? Yes, the soup won't be as good.
I think there needs to be a job protection. I have been laid off three times, through no fault of my own. I did my job. I did my duty to the company. It has NO MORAL RIGHT to fire me. Did I set up the network wrong? No. Did the network had issues? No. The fact that Alstate can't make money is not because a Network Administrator is doing a bad job, it is because that overpaid CEO don't know their heads from their asses, which is not surprising considering where their heads are stuck.

YOU ARE SO very correct. Business need to obey the law or be fined/jailed to enforce employment laws. Again; it is a Gub'Ment problem. The Social Security Administration can't tell Immigration enforcement about bad Social Security numbers being used. I would not buy from a store that REFUSED to speak English in America; they truly need to get with the program.

Having served in medicine for most of my life let me assure you of some facts. The Gub'Ment (Medicare) are the worst negotiators on price on EARTH. No Gub'Men service I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with has any common sense at all. Having Gub'Ment get involved is the reason medicine is so costly. Medicine and lawyers are water and oil. Laws that force the guarantee of positive outcomes are ridiculous. We are all going to have to face the fact that malpractice LAWS are the problem. Agreed.... mostly about CEO pay and perks. It takes no MORAL reason to fire someone; it needs to be a business decision. If they wanted to reduce payroll and your name was on the list they have EVERY MORAL RIGHT to fire you. They also may not like the way you dress, talk, or your work habits. If you don't like the way the Company is ran get stock holders together and take action. If you want a guarantee in life about employment you out of luck. Life ain't fair! Having owned my own type "C" Corporation I am aware, on a small scale, the moral problems that that can take place within business. I am not defending Corporations at all. As I said the dishonesty, low morals, lack of civic responsibility and raw greed shown to be prevalent in them makes me sick. But; thinking Gub'Ment is any better is WRONG. The Gub'Ment gets involved and we the little guy pays the price in every instance.

I agree with a lot of what you say and I do think most people feel the same frustrations about immigration, unions, medical care, BS lawsuits and high corportate salaries/stock options.
The BS lawsuits and huge pain & suffering awards are the product of our law schools pumping out thousands of lawyers over the last 30 years. These lawyers run our country and most of the elected officials are lawyers. They are not about to regulate themselves by placing caps on these lawsuits. They are in the process of attacking one industry after another and their greed will usually place those corporations into bankruptcy. When a corporation goes the bankruptcy route more lawyers of the corp variety are brought in to handle the whole procedure and become enriched. This transfer of weath in this country has diverted funds the corporations need for research and development. Our country needs to focus on the education of individuals that are productive to society not lawyers that complicate all business matters and sue at the drop of the hat over everything from hot coffee to the spotted owl.
To make a corporation board of directors and CEO's responsible for all their decisions would distroy the very fibre of our democracy. The corporation is a methoid to encourage individuals to risk their money in high risk ventures. Without it they would put their money in the bank or the stock market. Most corporations that are started fail, its a very high risk to start a business. The corporation allows them to understand that the only thing at risk is the money and time they put up for the business. If individuals running a company knew that they would be personally sued and lose everything the have worked for all their lives if their business failed they would never go into business in the first place. No companies, no jobs!
Corporations are highly regulated, they have to deal with more red tape, tax agencies, workers comp, state agencies, EPA, its friggin endless. It requires a huge expenditure of money to hire the people to handle it all. Most people who work in upper management are not paid for the extra hours they work and they are on call 24/7 if there are any problems. I have been VP-Finance and CFO of several companies over the years and I watched all the employees leave every day at 5pm and I stayed until my work was done. 12 hour days, worked saturday and sunday when none of the Union workers or other production people were around. Building was usually empty except for the management folks who were trying to figure out how to make the payroll and cover the benefits. Yep, my salary was double the worker bees but I worked twice as hard, many more hours and took my stress home with me every night. I would wake up in the middle of the night and try to write down ideas and remember things I had forgoten to do.
The media plays up the handfull of cases in this country where CEOs are cleaning up and getting huge bonuses and stock options. Many CEOs and owners of smaller companies don't even collect any salary when profits are down. They collect nothing, so that they can pay their employees and cover the medical plans, etc. You would never know this and its never in the media. The Democratic party in this country likes to play the rich against the poor and people buy into it. Check the backgrounds of the people pointing the fingers. There are more rich Democrats than rich republicans. Their money is old money made by gererations in their families before they were alive.
I never had a problem with watching a family become wealthy over their lifetime by devoting themselves heart and sole to their business. They starve for the first 10-15 years and work 80 hour weeks to make it happen and put in every dime they can find to keep it running. Then years down the road the company may take hold and they start making money. After 40-50 years they may cash out and sell the business to a big name company like an Intel for several millions. They then are rich and its all over the media. But nobody tells you that the owner has had three heart attacks and is in failing health for giving his life to the business.
My point: people are envious of the sucess of others. In your communist home country the theory is take all that money and give it to everyone. That way the bums who don't want to work and want to skate along can share equally in the rewards of those who work their butts off. But then you get a bunch of thugs in power who enrich themselves and control everything and stay in power until they die. But they throw crumbs out to the people in the public trough and convince them that everything is equal and they are looking out for their interests.
I'll take my system anyday over the commie system where you have no personal freedom. In the US if I don't like my job or the way the company is being run I have the choice to quit and go next door and get another job and higher pay. I don't expect to be "taken care of" by some government organization.
I think as more uneducated illegial immigrants enter this country to get the free cookies our system will be at risk. Those foks are not smart enough to savor the freedom that attracted them to this country and will instead turn our system into a socialistic one. Just My humble opinion.
We all came into this country from other places many years ago to excape governments that were oppressive. We have kept our freedom formost in our minds, now it is up to this new generation of immigrants to remember what they were running from and to become independent and avoid dragging their oppressive ideologies with them.0 -
