Like he was shot out of a cannon!
Valentines Day and the young folks are in love![^]
Took Sandy to Olive Garden for dinner tonight, and as you can guess, it was crowded. The wait was an hour. Sandy, being crippled from her stroke, was offered and took a seat while most stood. As the crowd thickened, only women sat, and the men stood.
A young couple still in their teens came in and stood in front of Sandy. Soon, a bench that would seat two opened up next to Sandy, and the young lovers pounced on it.
I watched the boy, and he wasn't aware of anyone in the room except Cleopatra. In a few minutes, an older couple came in and took their place standing in front of love-fest '07 and his lady. She was using a cane and was obviously having trouble standing.
Within 15 minutes, she was showing signs of pain and shifting her feet trying to stay up. Being the rude jerk I am, I finally walked over to the love machine, leaned over and said, "Gentlemen don't remain seated while ladies stand, especially if they are elderly and using a cane."
That boy jumped up out of his seat like he was shot out of a cannon, apologized to me, and offered the lady his seat. She accepted it and thanked him, as did her husband.
He again walked over to me and apologized. I told him no apology necessary.
When our number was called, I walked by him and told him, "You did good. Your folks would be proud of you." He smiled and thanked me.
I think these young kids are a good bunch, I just think they haven't been taught a lot yet.[;)]

You're a good man and taught the young lad a valuable lesson. Sounds like he gets it.0 -
The majority are good kids. Contrary to most dire predictions, and evidenced by military recruitment, Americans are as patriotic and caring as they ever were.
A bit more intelligent and tolerant even.0 -
The only thing I can't stand is intolerance.
