    Well as weve all expected they haven't stayed there, cnat believe the huggers that believed they would stay in the confines of the park. Talked to a friend in Jackson tonight he told me you can't find hardly any young elk on the refuge, there killing 6 to 8 head of elk a day. What are your thoughts on these killers and how long before they start on children.

    I'm sorry Elk hunters won't be able to bag their limit this year, but really there are more important things...

    The herd and the pack will balance out eventually

    I saw a documentary on the wolves inside Yellowstone a few years back on the National Geographic channel.
    They were doing a number on the elk. This was a good thing, as the elk population was way out of balance. The elk were destroying too many of the small trees, etc. Of course there were no predators for the elk of Yellowstone, two or four legged, before they reintroduced the wolf.
    As for the wolves ruining the ecosystem outside the park, I just don't know about that one.

    Need to get out the rifles and size the pack. Dope smoking greenies, save the whales, save the wolves, save the trees, save the grasshopper. These are the same retards that are seen on the Seattle news protesting the war. Need to make a law that allows us real people to size the "green" group

    Did anyone really expect the wolves to respect the boundaries of the park??? The cattle ranchers here in Wyoming that have thousands of head, lose a few a year to wolves and want to kill every wolf they see. Meanwhile, these same cattle ranchers are using gov't land to graze their cattle. The deer population in Wyoming is way out of check, maybe the wolves will have an impact on their numbers too.

    the wolves and the elk were here way before us and worked out the predator/prey situation we dont need to interfer now,everything has a balance in the food chain until man gets involved,maybe they should have put up electric dog fences to keep them in "THE PARK" [:0]

    Damn undomesticated animals! Why can't they take a clue from the buffalo and restrict their territories to federally protected lands? The last thing nature needs right now is another alpha predator roaming around.

    I am a studying wildlife biologist. Wolves are not likly to attack humans any attack would be very rare. If you saw the commercial that was on tv from wisconsin it is a bunch of bullpoop. Wolves are territorial animals so there is no doubt that some families have never left yellowstone. There predating on elk is part of a natural ecosystem that we once destroyed. The elk now must act like elk should. Some control may have to be instituted to keep a healthy herd but probably minimal. You say the wolves are killers well i wonder what they say about us because they only live in A FOURTH OR HALF OF THERE ORIGINAL RANGE because of Humans.

    Personally I like a world with wolves in it, better than a world where public land is over grazed by cattle. Where I live a very large percentage of the public land is overgrazed by ranchers that own 100 acres and have grazing rights on thousands more, for which they pay a pittance. Private land ranching is a different story, but but less than 1% of all beef comes from Western ranches. Where I grew up in the mid-west we talked about x head of cattle per acre. In the west they talk about sections per head. It is the perpetuation of an archaic life style.

    Easy to see that most (none?) of you make your living ranching. It is easy to point the finger when it is not your money that is at risk. Ranching is not a highly profitable endeavor. Ranchers accept financial risks daily that would send chills up most spines.

    Wolves??? I have no use for them.

    Maybe i didnt grow up ranching but on a farm i did. My grandpa had sheep and coyotes and the neihboring dogs did kill them. I can not say that wolves do not kill cattle because in some cases they do. When a wolf does that in my opinion it deserves to die. Otherwise it is like shooting you because you hang around the local area. Not all ranching loses are due to wolves. Bear and coyote and just as likely to kill livestock.

    The wolves are doing what needs to be done - i.e. controlling the elk population. I know a bunch of hunters will get their panties in a twist, but you know what? Too effing bad. These parks weren't created for the benfit of hunters.

    Wolves will be Wolves, that is just the way things are, it will all balance out. i keep hearing that the wolves were brought back to Yellowstone to help control deer and elk pop. i think they have some pretty nice mule deer and some rather large bull elk in the park.
    it seems to me that they could have sold permits i the far reaches of the park, don't know what people would pay BUT they pay the Indians
    pretty well to hunt their Elk. i think i will start a new discusion on that mater, if people would pay what i think then we could buy the wolves a place of their on with sheep, goats, elk, wild children and what ever they want.
