such is the world and retail. i guess these are the kinds of auctions sellers dream of and rarily see anymore!
to begin with, a 20ga skeet vr winchester model 50 in mint condition is very much worth the opening bid of 950.00.
but, the gun has one major flaw. it has pigeon grade wood on it. i called and asked the seller if the gun has 'pigeon' inscribed below the serial number and he said 'no.' that means its a plain skeet gun with pigeon wood. no handfitting, no jeweled bolts, etc...
so...lets hope the high bidder took the time to ask him as well, making the bid fair and square.
but, if that bidder is buying thinking hes getting a pigeon grade gun, wow, are they going to be surprised! and the way the high bid is moving, i'd say he thinks its a real pigeon, since pigeons do pull in around 15 to 1700.00.

He sells things at around $1500. How hard would it be to set up a bogus account to bid on his own stuff to make people think it was something?
Then if no one else bids on it he reports that the high bidder (his bogus account) is a non paying bidder and avoids GB charges??

The Win 94 that he is selling looks nice, also. His photos are good. Lots of times photos are so blurry you can't tell what you are looking at. It is always possible that a buyer is satisfied and is a repeat customer. 0 -
dongizmo, its being advertised as a skeet gun. skeet guns dont have pigeon grade wood. without knowing the details, someone could view the pigeon wood and think that the gun is a pigeon gun.
i/e: anyone can put a whaletail on a basic posche 911 and make it look like a turbo. follow me? not until you get on the road would you find out youre about 200HP short in the passing lane.
and the way the prices are going, i suspect thats what happened. or, as i stated earlier, its a good ole fashioned sellers miracle taking place.0 -

I remember my first Corvette after marriage. Tangerine Orange 1977. I didn't have it 15 mins when a 911 was all over me getting on a ramp to an interstate. He went by me like I was sitting still. ( with a big grin when he pulled alongside)0 -
when my 1974' corvette convertible was brand new i was coming north on I-95 about 3am. same car went by at about 125 mph my 74 got him easy. a pigeon grade corvete for sure. 0 -

not me. maybe the others may have hinted to it, but my 1st post is pretty clear. the auction wording is correct. the total package isnt.
if the word 'upgrade' was present, it would be more informative and might have kept novice winchester bidders from being duped or mislead.
if this is going over your head dog let it go. if you were a winchester collector, maybe youd understand the scenero better.0 -

Bobski - the tail alone does not turn a 911 into a 930. You'll need a new transmission, different suspension, new body (for fat back end), new wheels (back ones are 2" wider than standard 911), new tach, new speedo, and a windshield wiper for the back window. 0 -
Misrepresenting and understating an item are 2 different things. If the seller is a Winchester man (person) than I would consider it marginally fraudulent. If he's an average joe like me, that doesnt know anything about guns and never owned one, than caveat emptor. [;)]
ADDED: Went back and looked at the stuff he has bought and sold, In my opinion Bobski's correct,he is delibertly understating the gun, just based on the fact that he has bought gun parts and reproduction gun manuals. You never forget those expensive lessons, and this one might be one.[:o)] But, you could probably take the wood off the gun (looks original winchester) and get $600+ for it. than find the correct stock for $200, and wala.0 -

The potential buyer can always ask the seller questions. An honest seller should fairly represent his product, not be compelled to do the buyer's thinking for them. Maybe the buyer just wants a fine looking Winchester shotgun and doesn't care about the details.
