military bolt rifle
For my next addition I'm looking for a nice military style bolt rifle. I've got a Mosin Nagant, so I'm thinking of adding another country to the mix. Narrowed my decision down to either a Mauser 98 or an Arisaka 6.5mm. I don't need a fancy collector rifle, but something I can still shoot and enjoy. Any body have any tips for what I should look for in the rifle? Certain manufacturers, import marks, etc...? Thanks for the help.

Don't foregt the Lee Enfield No4 MKI or MKII probably the best bolt action rifle of WWII. Get a Shotgun News there are several companies selling Mauser K98's, M48's and Enfield No.4's. I have a Yugo M48 which is the same configuration as a K98 and it is pretty nice. For shooting the Arisaka will be hard to find ammo for and cost prohibative compared to the .303 or 8mm. 0 -
Or a Yugo 24/47, Turkish Mauser, or get more Mosin Nagants. Like the M38, M44. 0 -
....or a swede in 6.5x55. You can still pick them up for a decent price. 0 -
Get the Swedish Mauser. What a classic. Regarded as the most accurate Mauser ever made. 0 -
Swiss K31. Still affordable, most id very good condition, very accurate and solid, straight pull bolt. Only down side is that the ammo is a bit pricey.
