Proud of my Boy....
I don't post much but read the forums alot, been on the forums since Jan '07. However I need to share this experience. Went to a gun show with my son about 6 weeks ago or so. He has become very interested military rifles and all types of war movies from the British fighting the Zulus to Viet Nam. He has been looking at items on GB, looking at Shot Gun News, and about anything else he can get his hands on. Anyway we're at this gun show and he finds a real nice Moisin Nagant M44 that he absolutely had to have, so I buy it for him. Well weather here in rural South Kansas City has been nasty so no chance to try it out. Saturday I got off work early and we went to another show and bought a can of surplus ammo for his rifle. He was excited. Came home, breezed thru his chores, and went out back to try it out. Mom and I was watching him from the back porch as he set out the metal plate swing target about 50 yards out. Now I had for warned him that his rifle had a bit of a kick. He said he wasn't worried because he liked shoot'n the old JC Higgins 12 guage. Now Jacob is a big boy, 12 1/2 years old, 5'9", 235 lbs, and size 13 mens shoe. Well he loads up, takes aim, and fires. Knocks his shoulder back some, he turns and looks back at us with surprise on his face. He then turns, takes aim, fires, and blows one the plates clean off the target. He turns back at us with a look this time like has was in trouble because he broke a plate off the target. I gave him a half smile and said "ain't nothin' the welder won't fix" as a tear rolled down my cheek. About 20 rounds later he decided he had had enough. He cleaned up, came in, and looked at his nice red shoulder with a distinct butt plate screw impression. It's now Monday morning, he's getting ready for school and can't wait to show off his butt plate & screw bruise to some of his friends.
God I love that boy.

My son is in Army AIT, doing chemical ops. specialist. (hazmat,NBC,ect) Took his certification test today. Had to get 80% or better. He texted saying he did not get 80 %. We call him to do the that's ok thing, when he announced he got 100%. He and one other guy out of 160 men got 100 %.[:D] He is in the top 4% of his class overall. Pretty proud. 0 -

12. I'll never forget that exhilaration as I'd touch
them off ... I don't recall ever making it to 20,

Great story, these are the time in your boys life that he will always treasure and it is a great time to speak into his life before "The Teens" hit to hard. I wish the world had more dads like you, it would be a better place if it did.
So what's next for the boy, a Mauser 98K or a Enfield SMLE No. 4 Mark 1?0 -
Mr. Wilson To answer your question we have a yours, mine and ours family. Mine from previous, 2 daughters 28 & 21 don't have any interest in firearms but know and respect 'em. I am a former police officer and deputy sheriff. My father retired from Kansas City PD. Son 27 but only likes to shoot mine. Hers from previous, son, would of been 22 this year but was killed May '05 by an idiot in a cement truck (got 4 days in jail and no CDL for 5 years) And then there is ours Jacob 12 1/2. He is the one with the Firearms Fever.
MK 19 We looked at some Mausers Sat. at the gun show but they all looked like they had been laying on the highway during rush hour. Jacob already has some books on Enfields he's been reading so I'm not sure what he'll end up with next.
Bought alot over winter and haven't had a chance to get them all out yet. Thompson 1927 A1, couple of cz 52's, a nice sporterized Steyr M95 for 40 bucks at an auction, and couple more.0 -

"Mr. Wilson" was my Dad - born in 1902. His Dad was born in 1858. Grandad on my Mom's side had a brother killed in the War of Northern Aggression.

Tsav0303 at age 10 his first year of wrestling he took 2nd place in the state championships. The last three years in football as a center and defensive tackle his team won the league super bowl. It's a blast to watch him take on 2-3 players at the same time.0
