I am dumbfounded

GOVERNMENT CAMP, Ore. - Rescuers reached three stranded climbers on Mount Hood Monday, finding them in good condition after they spent a night huddled with their dog to stave off the whipping wind and snow 7,400 feet up the peak.
The three, two women a man and a man in their 30s, were fed hot food and given warm clothing before being led down the mountain with their dog, a black Labrador named Velvet.
I don't have any problem with people who wish to test themselves against mother nature. I applaud their efforts. It is those who possess that adventurous spirit that moves humanity forward. But what in Gods name is a dog doing there?

hahah I love it. dogs are above humans now
the olny problem I have is wasting tax dollars everytime an adventurer needs help.
They should have to sign a repayment agreement before they are released!0 -

I climbed a fourteener (Mt. Bierstadt, near Georgetown, CO) with a dog. 'Twasn't any big deal, the dog rather enjoyed it.
Of course, it was a fairly easy climb, nothing truly treacherous, and it was the middle of summer.0 -

Its obvious the people on this board know very little about mountain climbing but it is VERY common to see dogs climbing on Mt Hood with their owners. In fact, they seem to have less trouble climbing the mountain than people do. Although I would never take a dog up there many people do.....and I doubt they are from California !! 0 -

I'll have to agree with you. Most dogs are better than most people. Of course, as with everything, there are exceptions.0 -
