So I fear this will be the new buzzword for the gungrabbers. I have never heard that term used before reading it today. So how long will it be before we hear some talking head in the media use it?

more than likely it is just a photo-op with a local friendly.
Judging from the fence line (visible outside scope) he is pretty close and I don't think that our soldiers would take the chance of stopping to take pictures if it was a hostile.
Somebody's helmet is off also, I do believe that is a big no-no if you are engaged with hostiles0 -

there was a politician once that said "ak-47's are evil! we need to take them off the streets! my friends were killed in viet nam with ak-47's." he didn't mention the M16's that were surely used just as many times to save his friend's lives. or the AK-47's that, in fact, some guys on the same side preferred and used instead of the M16 they were issued.

Educate, educate, and educate. Laugh in front of those who may be ignorant to such focus-group tested talking points phrases and let them know how much of an insult to our intelligence it is to hear such phrases.
Assault rifle; any rifle used to assault anyone, IE any gun ever picked up illegally to commit a crime with is an "assault weapon," just as is any knife, bat, or lead pipe ever used in the commission of a violent crime against another human being.
When the Anti's back-pedal and start saying, "Well we mean military style weapons... specifically machine guns and alike."
Laugh again and explain to them that all fully automatic weapons are already regulated by the federal government and are not for sale in normal commerce to the average shooter/hunter anyway, and the rigid restrictions and background checks performed by the federal government on anyone who wants a Class III license for fully automatic weapons makes those owners the least likely to ever turn criminal so that is a moot point. Not to mention the fact that military type firearms are technologically and functionally no different than the average hunting firearm so discriminating against them because of their "looks," seems real unintelligent and certain against the enlightenment of anti-discrimination.
When the libs sound dumber than, as their elitist ruling class mentality dictates, the "peasant class" they seem to look down their noses and see everyone else as, they tend to get flustered and angry.0
