Gas Prices Surge Past $3.00 In New York
Motorists Paying As High As $3.29 On Palisades Parkway
Serious my friends......Would anyone out there like to explain to me what the heck is going on...In the last 3 to 4 weeks, Gas has gone from $2.34-#2.37 per gal. to $3.00+ per gal.[:(!]
Is it because Speaker: Nancy Pelosi is using her new plane tooooo much.[:D]
Is it just here in New York???
Home heating oil kicked my rear near my wallet....$635.00 for a 275 tank at it's peak.....all them guns I could have bought.

I know this doesn't help ease the pain, but even at these prices we have some of the cheapest gas prices on the planet. We are a capitalistic, free market country where profit is the object of the game. 0 -

Think of it this way.
The current administration is going
down the tubes, Congress and the House
aren't far behind, people are starting to wake
to the fact that they're getting hosed
and it's only a matter of a few generations
before the whole political system gets overhauled
so thay have to help allow they're insurance,oil
and construction friends to make as much dough as
they can while they still can
Sonner or later they'll have to star focusing on the
true needs of the Amercian people.
Look it's beginng now and they're finally "discussing"
how important it is to truly help our finest when
they come back not in the same shape as before they left.0 -

Up to $2.57 almost everywhere around here. The truck stop was still at $2.35 so I stopped there on the way home from Indy. 0 -
10 cents a week for the last 4 weeks. 2.39 a gallon.
Time for the big business apologists and the "I got stock in" boys to weigh in with their soothing words about how lucky you are to just be paying 2.50-3.50 a gallon...

I think that gas prices are all artificially inflated to pad the pockets of big oil and the crimnial politicians that back them. Don't expect Bush to do anything about it! 0 -

For once I don't feel like I'm on the a-s-s end of the spectrum with respect to gas prices. I paid $2.41 today.
That's close to as low as it's been around here all winter. I just assumed that with the summer season the prices would rise again. I'm hoping they won't top $3, but I think they might--and I heard that they already have in parts of CA and HI.
And as somebody else already pointed out, we pay a LOT less for gasoline in this country than most other folks on the planet pay.0 -

I hate to make the same point twice in a row, but we pay a lot less for gas here than most folks on the planet pay!
When I visited South Africa a few years ago, they were paying almost as much per liter (about a quart) as we were per gallon. Until I saw that, I did not understand how people could say: "We'd like to go on vacation, but we're not sure we can afford the fuel." But that is how a lot of people on the planet have to think about it.

Yes they control the market. Yes there obviously is price fixing. Yes they make record profits year after year. Yes their influence is very strong in Government. Yes they are the reason we're in the Middle East. Yes "Big Oil" employs lots of Americans, many in good paying jobs. Yes we have way cheaper retail gas prices than almost any country on Earth. No I don't like paying more for gas. The prices have not restricted my driving, nor have changed my lifestyle. They're going to charge as much as they can, they do have a monopoly, which speaks volumes on their control over Government. What can we do? Pay the price or walk.

Took forever to drop when oil went to under $60 a barrel...jumps way up in days after it goes back over $60 a barrel...boy are we getting screwed. Sad part, a few weeks before Memorial Day...it will jump big time and stay that way until after Labor day.
Im a staunch capitalist, I believe in big business, after all, a homeless person does not create or give jobs. BUT! The oil companys and utilities should be investigated, UNDER OATH! Some prison time for these rip off fat cats should be in order...[^]
