The word choice, "suckle," is disturbing...

I know. That is what makes it fun to use.

My wife and I really enjoy our Keurig coffee and tea maker. We buy the K-cups but also bought the K-cup adapters so that we can use bulk specialty coffee - including espresso roasts - as well. Nothing at all to clean. No mess. Easy to use. A true gem. I can have a cup or mug any time, day or night, in under a minute or two.

Got this new fangled drip coffee maker. Real fancy Black & Decker and the pot is actually a thermos so I can take the whole thing with me in the morning.

It makes crappy coffee just like the old one did.
My wife bought the drip type cause she thought I was a redneck for brewing coffee on the stove in an old time kettle type coffee maker.

I just dig the old one out and perculated up a nice pot of coffee on the stove over an open flame. Now this is good coffee! It even smells the house up good when it perculates!

There is a good chance that drip type coffee makers are the source of all that is wrong with the world.

What would your wife think you were if you just tossed some grounds into a pot of boiling water and poured off the coffee?

I like the redneck style perculator it makes the best coffee and is the stronger and hotter than drip pots. I have bought many and still go back to the ol' perculator. When i go campin i just throw the grounds in the boiling water.

    Try this:

Instead of using a paper filter, get a metal mesh filter for your drip coffee maker. They sell them at gormet stores and such for about $20. My sister explained it to me when I had a really good cup of coffee at her house. The paper filter absorbs the natural oils in the coffee whereas the mesh filter does not. Have you ever seen that slight sheen on the top of coffee that has been purcolated? Same principle. It helps to grind your own beans too. Don't grind them too fine though.

I got a mesh filter for the thing.

I think I will stick to perculating. Best tasting and smelling coffee.

You should try grinding your own beans...really makes a diff in the tatste...Sometimes the store is out of beans so I get the regular ground coffee, but ohhhhh the difference in taste...I dont like the ground coffee anymore, Classic and I grind out own and the taste is out of this world...You can get a grinder at K-mart or walmart quite reasonable...

And it pays to keep the coffee make clean too....

Stainless steel percolator, mini-electric grinder, Medium roast coffee beans from Kona, Molokai, and North Shore of Oahu. Tastes like coffee smells. Have friends in Hawaii- keep them supplied with Virginia Peanuts, Ham, and BBQ sauce- they keep me stocked with coffee.

My uncle has lived in Brooklyn most of his life and uses a perculator. Its not a redneck thing. I to like the nostalgia of perculated coffee.

I got a hand grinder. I like cranking on it to get my beans ground up.

Don't put a coffee bean in your mouth and chew it up. Kind of strong[xx(]

It's because "they" are afraid of me.
I am the new sacred cow.

When my grandpa bought a new coffee pot, the first thing he did was through away the innards. He liked to just dump some coffee grounds in the pot, fill it up with water and boil it for a while. I have to admit he did make a good cup of coffee.

I just bought one of those.
    It makes great coffee.
    Expensive but worth it.
    Always hot fresh coffee.

Years back, I purchased a 4" round copper disk with four dimples that act like feet to keep the coffee pot in an automatic drip coffeemaker just slightly elevated and away from direct contact with the burner. It does help to reduce the heat and prolong the life of the brewed coffee, preventing it from "burning" and tasting lousy.
