Girl Scout Cookies

We went to the grocery tonight and as we were leaving the girls had a table set up in the lobby selling their cookies. We bought a couple of boxes, one of which was called Lemonades. It's basically a shortbread cookie with a lemon glazing on the bottom. If you like lemon flavored shortbread cookies, these are pretty good. You don't get many for the $3, but hey it's for a good cause.[:D][:D]

And no, I am not a Girl Scout nor do I have any affiliation with them anymore. Other than my daughter was one years ago.

They are my crack cocaine[:0][:D] Little girl knocked on our door selling "them" cookies. She was about 11 and had this huge bag, full of cookie boxes. I felt like I was buying my fix, from a dealer. How many boxes ya got???, 18 left. Okay, give them all to me[:0] I think I made her day. 16 boxes are going to work for the guys and 2 are staying here for Donna and the kids. No more junk food for me[V] I am in junk food rehab as we speak. I think the government ought to start regulating these damn things. They are too addictive. Oakie[:D]

In my garage right now there are 20 cases of cookies that I have to help sell, so my mind is wandering and I tell the wife: ya know
    instead of the

    20 cases X 12 boxes X $3.50/box (girlscout charge)= $840

    How about I get:
    20 cases X 12 boxes X $5.00/box= $1200

$360 to buy something on here.... mmm I mean as my handling fee?

I even let her in on my idea to stake out weight watchers meetings and sell them $7.00/box with the promise to keep it "on the down low"....

Would your wife have hit you? [B)]

i paid $4.00 per box. if anyone likes them i would suggest buying them now because a few cities and groups want to ban them and also ban the girl scouts from selling in their cities.

$4 per box here and I also like the mints. Neither of my daughters were ever Girl Scouts but my neighbor's daughter was and I'd just buy up all of her mints and call it good.

My wife is a GS leader, we have cases of cookies every year around the house and I end up owing her 15-20 bucks a year from eating them illegally. She sells them for three bucks a box andf the troop gets .50 cents, she said some troops are selling for 3.50. I really like the new sugar free brownies, they dont taste as good as most flavors but hey tehy are sugar free. I also like the thin mints, samoas, dosidos, tag alongs, thin mints, trefoils. Where the heck do they get these names! :)

$3.00 here. I just love the peanut butter sandwiche cookies. I bought 2 boxes from a lady at work thinking that more people would ask me to buy but that didn't happen. I kept them at work and forced myself to make them last. I had them for 2 weeks. A new record for me. The thin mints are good also as well as the one with carmel and coconut. Being a leader with the BoyScouts, I was under the assumption that the prices were nationwide for there popcorn sales. I just wonder if the groups you are talking about at #3.50-$6.00 are just upping the price on there own to make more money.

I was quite disappointed to find out that they are NOT made from real Girl Scouts. Darn their false advertising! [:D]

Are you talking about the 'soylent green' there, or just made by girl scouts?

I am sticking with Official Gun Broker cookies. I get them from Admin. He is really cute with his little table in front of Wally World. He makes good brownies too![^]

They're getting more expensive every year. Also, they're putting fewer cookies in each box every year. Not worth paying for them anymore.

Wife is a GS leader and daughter is a Brownie. Each district sets the price they want to charge. Here they are $3.50 per box. And you had better not have a district executive catch you selling them for more than that!

They are getting more expensive, and about 5 years ago the packages downsized a little, but have not changed since! But they are worth it. The money goes to a great cause. But if you had rather buy your oreo's and support big business and not the Girl Scouts, it is your dollar!

Wow! I'm amazed! I only posted a thread once about eating Oreo's and someone remembered!

each girl scout district dictates the price each year, it very well may be 6.00 a box in some locations depending on their needs

they also took also changed the way the make them this year, and did away with a few varieties that where considered high in trans fat

They have been 3 bucks a box for 3or4 years here in St. Louis.
I don't think they were ever worth the price vs. quanity. I only buy them because the money is going to a good cause.

My daughter (and wife) have already sold over 500 boxes at $3.50. I thought someone on here was going to buy some, too, until I checked the shipping. OUCH!! About 2bucks a box. You'd have to be pretty desperate.. or living where there are no Girl Scouts.
