Do guns kill people...or do people kill people? Here is a simple test you can perform yourself to answer this question.

    What you will need:

    A) An empty room
    B) A table
    C) A notepad
    D) A pen or pencil
    E) A firearm of your choice
    F) Ammunition for the firearm

    How to perform the test:

    1) Make sure you are the only person in the room.
    2) Place the table in the room.
    3) Place the firearm on the table.
    4) Place the ammunition next to the firearm on the table.
    5) STEP BACK FROM THE TABLE!!!!!
    6) Pick up your notepad and your pen or pencil.
    7) Take notes on what happens with the firearm & ammunition.

I don't see you writing anything. Is the gun loading itself? Is it aiming at you? Is it running around the room yelling bad words at you? Does your dog smell funny? Did your dog smell funny before the test started? Have your shoes caught on fire? Have you suddenly given birth to lawn ornaments?

Just as I thought...I'll bet you have a blank page on you notepad. You probably answered "NO" to all of the helper questions above. Well, maybe except for the one about the dog. Then you'll need to give your dog a bath...not get rid of your guns.

Please share this simple test with the next idiot you find that blames all of the worlds problems on guns. Then ask them...Do guns kill people or do people kill people!?!"

It maybe helpful for you when dealing with liberals to remember that "Common Sense" is not that common. Please bear with them until they are able to understand. Just don't turn your back on them.

One way to come across as unbiased in this type of paper is to show both sides of the issue and the research both sides of the issue.

There was a definiative study done on this subject by a man named Lott (I cannot remember his first name. John, maybe?) His work set out to prove that guns were the cause of crime, but he ended up disproving his own hypothesis. He still researches and publishes on the subject.

Please allow me to recommend these two:

    http://www.jpfo.org/deathgc.htm
"Death by Gun Cotrol", by Zelman and Stevens

    http://www.press.uchicago.edu/cgi-bin/hfs.cgi/00/14167.ctl
"More Guns, Less Crime", by John Lott.

    Both are real eye openers.

Have him look on the FBI web site. They have done studies that show that in every state that has passed a concealed carry "shall issue" law, the violent crime rate has gone down.

Studies on the (now expired) assault weapons ban did not curb violent crime. Even some of the anti-gun people have admitted this.

He can take a look at Washington DC, one of the strictest gun control places there is. It also has one of the highest violent crime rates in the nation.

More gun control = more violent crime.
More people being "allowed" to carry guns = less violent crime.

    Google is his friend. [:D]

To easy the truth is always unbiased to a non idiot.... That probably won't fly in college though. because it only takes brains to get a piece of paper not common sense!!!
But here was a guy with an unbiased opinion to do away with guns, maybe a little exposure to a guy like him would be unbiased enough for him!!!
