Ford recalls...........
WASHINGTON Ford Motor Company says it will recall more than 500-thousand Escape sport utility vehicles after reports of engine fires linked to corrosion on antilock brake connectors.
Ford says the recall does not affect hybrid versions of the S-U-V.
The Dearborn-based automaker says there have been about 50 engine fires connected to the problems, which had been under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. A spokeswoman says there have been no reports of accidents or injuries.
Dealers will inspect the vehicles and make the necessary repairs.
Owners can call Ford at (800) 392-3673 for more information about the recall.

More likely Cenral/South America, Ford is down there, not in China.
It looks like the scope of this one is large enough to have been unforeseen, but Ford has a long history of shipping vehicles for retail sale with known problems. They send bulletins to the dealer shops in advance stating the problem and the cure so they're prepared when the vehicles start coming in.0 -

Ford seems to get alot of the attention latley too. Maybe because the bottom of the barrel scrapping but other manufatures have it just as bad. 0 -
This has been a problem on all their vechicles. Why wasn't this recall done at the same time as the other ones? 0 -

THe Escape had probs since its introduction...typical Ford POS..and they wonder why they are on the brink of bankruptcy.... 0
