Your dad sounds alot like mine. He served the USMC for 3 tours in Vietnem, he didn't care for civillian life and the MC wouldn't let him go back to Nam so he joind the Army and spent 6 years as a tank gunner in Germany.

Were about's do in live in Oregon? There are several guys here that live there and can point you in the right direction.

[V]Hi Earl My name Is John.. It does suck and X-mas was HIS time of year. He used tell me the Marine corps only endorsed X-mas. all other holidays were for the normal people. I shoot rifles mostly I have a 7.7 jap my grandfather gave me but am looking for a good bolt action or single shot 22. cheaper to shoot and all. I like those the best. But long range shots are what I would like to get into.

I live in salem area. My Dad did three tours in nam also. I really thanks the guys that did but do not envy them. I am glad to see the civy populus not treating todays soldiers like they did our fathers. Pathetic but it looks better now.!!

If you're in the Portland/Salem metro area, Tri-Cities Gun Club in Sherwood is likely the best facility in OryGun.

If you aren't in that area, I'd suggest asking your local Sheriff's office or PD.

Most Counties/cities have some sort of local club that will help you out, and I believe you can also ask the NRA - even if you are not a member.

Another thought is to check with your local gun shops.

Welcome to GunBroker, and Merry Christmas.

Also, there is a 200 yard range in McMinnville, down the road from the steel mill.

Well the Marine Corps is kinder and gentler these days. I've been getting several holidays a year lately...sometimes Independence day, usually Thanksgiving...Always celebrate 10 Nov whether I'm working or not.

Yeh that could work... maybe. It's ok thought she understands my need to kill stuff[}:)][:D][}:)][:D]She bought me a 835 ultramag for my birthday this past year so I should be good for a while..[:(] soon I hope to get a good rifle I would like a bolt action 308. that would be great. I found a few at pawn shops but am very leary bout buying there. They are good deals but I have no Idea how they'e been treated and so on..

That's where the good deals are, and they ALWAYS are ready to negotiate down.

Take a friend with you that knows guns, and have the pawnbroker guarantee the one you pick for functionality.

    LET"S GO SHOOTIN' !!

Morning Earl.. Yeh I loked into a couple from new england firearms andeven the 223 or 243 are reasonable. I have their single shot 12ga and it has been through hell and kept firing. I might try the 308/30-06. They are very reliable and my shotgun is great.
