Who else has a 'Roy' dog?...Catahoula
GaGirl got me introduced to the breed. I have an adopted dog (from Indiana, I am in Cincinnati). They believe he is mixed. He is a piebald...has a white neck, four white paws. However, he is smart, eager to learn/please, does not bark without a very good reason, and accompanies me on my 'neighborhood patrols'. I could not ask for a dog easier to train/please, and he scares the h#ll out of anyone near my front gate...cause he stares so intently, and he weighs 95 lbs.
Love him. His name was Roy Rogers when I adopted him. I shortened his name to Roy.

Catahoula's are awesome dogs. They can be a bit on the overprotective side. Keep an eye on them around strangers and other aminals. I saw my Grandmothers Cat eat a Chihuaha in 2 bites.[:D] 0 -
Have a catahoula myself. Has another before this one. Great breed in my opinion. Hearty breed, meaning you don't have to go to the vet for him all the time. EXCELLENT guard or yard dog. Mine scares the poop out of anyone who comes in the driveway and WON'T let them out of the vehicle. As Mr. Corvers said, they can be a little over protective, but that don't bother me. Very loyal too. Also, very easy to train and eager to learn. Great all around breed, if you like a semi large breed, in my opinion.
