I can now say something !
It was allready on the news and is over now so I can say something about it.
A friend of mine had to meet with the Secret Service sunday evening to show them around the hotel that he works at (he is in the maintenence department) in preperations for Fred Thompsons visit to Greenville SC yesterday.
I have not talked to him since saturday so I do not know how it went, but it looked like everything was fine by the news reports.
I would have said something on the forum sooner but he asked me not too as he did not know if it should be discussed.

Nothing really. The rally is over now, but I just thought it was interesting that a friend of mine had to meet with the secret service over a presidential rally.
I know once they are officially running that they do get secret service protection. But you don't guess to know someone who has to help in any way on that type of thing.0 -
GRD - ya done right...best to keep things less known at times.
I was head of the crane department on the docks where Ronald Reagan signed some trade agreements two different times in the 80's. The Secret Service had snipers stationed in my cranes, with a view of the set-up around the President. Pretty big, and very secure operations.0 -
but if you get word on bin laden let me know...Dude I won't miss and you can have the freaking reward... 0 -
Here is a few photos of Air Force One when President Bush visited our state a couple years ago and my old agency provided security for the plane while the president was out making the speech. They had a Coast Guard chopper there as well. I have a couple others but they have some of our people in them and I don't want to post it without them knowing.

I was a Paramedic when Jessee Jackson ran for President. He gave a speech in the auditorium of the college in my little town. They called for an ambulance to stand by, and I got stuck with the duty.
My partner and I stood right at the main doorway as people filed in, we were just checking out the crowd, and of course had to be able to sprint to our ambulance in case a real call came in.
Well, this was down in central Georgia, of course there were Secret Service guys all over the place. You could tell them right off, little earpice, coat and tie etc.
So two of these Secret Service guys were right at that doorway. One of those Secret Service agents couldn't take his eyes off of me.
I don't know what the hell, I guess I look like a Klansman, or maybe Lee Harvey Oswald with a beard. I guess they figured the hit men were disguised as Paramedics.
Or, maybe it was one of those "Congressman Larry Craig" deals. The Secret Service guy stared at me for many minutes, I can't remember if he tapped my shoe, or bent down to pick up a piece of paper.0 -
GRD, was there ever a time you could not say something?[}:)]
