Anti-Porn Groups Demand Ban on Skin Mags
UPI | November 06, 2007
WASHINGTON -- Dozens of anti-pornography groups asked the U.S. Congress to force the Pentagon to keep sexually related material from being sold in military stores.
Pornographic material was banned from being sold in military establishments nearly 10 years ago, but Christian group American Family Association claimed that adult fare, including Penthouse and Playboy material, is still being sold in the stores, USA Today reported Monday.
Poll: Should skin mags be available at U.S. Military installations?
The Pentagon deemed those materials aren't explicit enough to pull from its stores.
"They're saying 'we're not selling stuff that's sexually explicit' -- and we say it's pornography," Donald Wildmon, head of the American Family Association, told USA Today.
A letter-writing campaign launched Friday aimed to convince Congress to "get the Pentagon to obey the law," he added.
The Military Honor and Decency Act of 1996 is supposed to bar "sexually explicit material" from being sold in stores on military bases, the newspaper said. It defines porn as "the dominant theme of which depicts or describes nudity" or sexual activities "in a lascivi

Pornography is inherently dangerous Classic. I feel that it should be outlawed just like dangerous drugs are illegal. This is not even from a Christian standpoint, but rather from a psychological view. No good can come from porn use without doing a great deal of harm. Remember that several years ago I was involved in that industry in a professional capacity. I've seen with my own eyes what it does to those who use it. 0 -
Beware of those that would try to restrict or eliminate your rights. If the first amendment goes, all others will surely follow and rather quickly. Remember those right were recognized not granted by the constitution, so only tyrants can take them. Blue noses intend tyranny.
I am not much interested in porn, but far better that than Mrs. Grundy.0 -
I wouldnt call playboy exactly porn. I also wonder how many in here frequent the "Porn" sites.. I know a few do as some of the pics they have posted come from those sites. So called "Porn" has been around since man got enough brains to draw pictures. I know people get hooked on it the same as a gambler gets hooked on gambling, or a druggie gets hooked on drugs, I dont think the masses are affected by it, heck it could probably help some people.
As many in here say you can see what is in playboy anywhere, even on some beaches.
I dont advocate porn. My problem is people sticking their noses into what someone else is doing, and demanding that they dont do it when it is none of their business. To me it is not a Porn issue, its a rights issue of which these relious nuts are trying to take away.0 -

I love freedom as much as the rest of us. And from a constitutional standpoint this is a touchy matter. And maybe this would be easier if it were not a religious organization that was opposing it. Statistically speaking many here do use porn and many of those are addicted, again only statistically speaking. Sociologist at large, even secular sociologist, do agree however that the over sexualized state that society is in does cause numerous harms to us. Every where you look you see the social problems that we have. Porn and hypersexuallity is not the cause of all the social ills that we suffer with, but it is a key ingredient.0 -

Yeah... not real interested in a sarcastic debate, but I will outline my viewpoint again for you. From a psychological and sociological view, porn and hypersexuality is damaging to society at large. If you care to do the research, going all the way back to Freud and Skinner, who were very secular as you know, then I invite you to do it as I have. We spent the better part of a semester studying this vary subject. The conclusions were indisputable. And if porn is what you love you will undoubtedly defend it to the death, just an alcoholic, or any other addict will defend his true love. I am a Christian, and I am also somewhat educated in my field of study, that being psychology. This may surprise you, but the two are not mutually exclusive. [;)]0 -

Why would I do the research to try to prove to myself your unsubstantiated statements? You're kidding right? You make an affirmation -- please be kind to prove it, otherwise, it's just shooting bullpoop as usual. And I don't care what Freud or Skinner have said, they aren't the unquestioned supreme authority. The rest of your bile is graciously ignored.0 -

http://psychcentral.com/ Enter "porn" into the search section. This should get you started, though it sounds to me like your mind is made up. But if you truly desire to do unbiased research on the subject there are resources available which will present all sides of the study. As for teaching you a 3 month course on the subject to arrive at the logical conclusions here on GB... I suppose I'll pass.0 -

Bill, you savage, are you saying that you were a porn star? Like they said in that movie,"All Nine Yards" (?): "There is nothing finer than a naked girl with a gun!"[;)]
Earl... are you kidding me? Do ya think I would go into any detail here about it? You guys would give me the business unmercifully! [;)][:D]
Besides I'm not proud of my affiliation with it, so I rarely think about it or discuss it. THAT is from a Christian view point Rockatansky.0 -

Come on...lighten up gang! How 'bout those Dallas Cheerleaders? Now that is not porn, that is just "fine"! Bill, I'm just kidding with you...but at least come back with something![:D]
I dated a little cheerleader all through high school. Talk about opposites attract. [:p] But you raise a good point about cheerleaders... why not in baseball? The Detroit Tigers Cheerleaders... has a nice ring to it. [8D]0
