17 HMRs at the range
I bought two Savage 17 HMRs and tried them out today. The first is a 93R with the synthetic stock and cheap 3-9 scope.Got this one for the wife/daughter. Second is the 93R withe the accutrigger and thumbhole laminate stock with a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9 scope.
Both guns are very ammo sensitive. Both liked Hornady Varmint express and neither liked the CCI. Point of impact was off by 4" when switching ammo.
I did not like either rifle's magazines. They exude cheapness and were hard to remove and install. Both bolts were very stiff, but as both rifles are new I'll give it some break in time.
The non accutrigger was pretty bad, but I got used to it. Surprisingly the cheaper model shot better groups with all but one type of ammo. The accutrigger is worth the price, though.
Getting small groups is HARD !! I'm an iron sight guy and this is the first time I had to shoot in between heartbeats ! I was able to get under 3/4" at 100 yards with both guns. I ended up shooting at pasters. Really need a bigger scope, though. A 24X would work better.
All in all these guns are a hoot. Only problem is ammo is up to $13.00 a box. Almost the same as surplus Greek 30-06.

That's why I like my Ruger 77/17. Flush mounted mag.0 -
I have a Savage 93fv in 22mag that I love. Accutrigger, etc. just like yours. I agree on the scope, since I too have a cheap 3-9x on it, I'd like to upgrade eventually. Lots of fun hitting clay targets laying on the 200 yard berm at the range
