Marc1301: You guys have BIG black bears!
Just talked to my old girl friend and (Chief Phil's mom) a few minutes ago - and then Chief Phil! Seems Barb's 500 year old oak tree out front of her house, just (this morning) fell over! IF it had fallen a smidgin more toward towards the house, it'd have taken her AND the house out! She watched it go over - grabbed the dog and sprinted out just in time! ... and last night Chief Phil heard something messin with his trash can - walked past a bunch of bear guns with a flashlight and came face to face with the biggest blackie he's ever seen - and he's seen a few. His yard's surrounded with a 6' wooden fence - Phil headed lickitey-split back to the house and the bear went right through his fence - took him 25 boards to get it lookin right again!
I'll post pictures tomorrow.
.... I'm wondering if I really want to spend a few days in Ocala, after all.

He must be out on the east side, more towards the national forest, or very near to it.
I have seen "blackies" out in the forest, but never anywhere around where I live.[8D]
The old oak dropped because we have been getting rain virtually every day for the past week and a half, until yesterday.
If they are on "low ground",.......after a dry spell like we have had, when the ground gets soaked enough, they will just tip over at times, especially if they have very large horizontal, hanging, lower limbs.
Have seen it many times!
Mine are all trimmed up high, and I am on high ground![8D]
Edit: Glad the tree didn't fall on the house, and all are well.
That was most of the damage during the 2004 hurricane season around here,........old oaks dropping over from all the rain, and helped by the wind.0
