longest shot you ever took on a deer

just wondering what the longest shot any of you took at a deer. i'm not proud on doing it and i know that i shouldn't have done it but i had a couple of friends egging me on to try at a deer at 800 yards with the 7mm mag. now i new i could hit at that range because i have made that shot before with out a problem but i still dont feel right about doing it. anyway i took a shot and dropped a 5x6 deer at 835 yards. so i was just wondering what others have taken deer at. i should add the reason there were egging me on to shoot a deer at that range was because of the Sheppard scope that was on this gun the one with the built in ranging circles. they didnt believe that they accually worked. well they do.

    365 yards, Mule Deer trotting at fast pace on ridgeline. I used a .338 win mag 250 gr bullet. Dropped it with a neck shot! Offhand shot too! Was proud, but no witnesses!!!!!!

    MINE WAS 2 MILES AWAY, AT NIGHT, NO SCOPE, AND DETERMINED AFTER WE WALKED THAT FAR TO CONFIRM IT WAS A CLEAN HEAD SHOT BETWEEN THE EYES !!

    Never shot one. Looking to change that. As Ohio only lets you use handguns, muzzleloaders, and slug guns, about the max I'd feel 100% on is just over 100 yards. If I had a perfect broadside shot in the open with a muzzleloader I might take a shot out to 200 but no further.

    If I could use a high power rifle, with iron sights 300 yards max, 500 with a scope using 06 class ammo. But then I shoot high power competitively so I'd be comfortable with a shot that long.

    Why don't they issue 7MMs to the military snipers for long-range shooting. It's because the 50 cal. shoots a much heavyier bullet that isn't affected by the wind nearly as much. Kills by a trained sniper are routinely made at 1500+ yards. I doubt very seriously that a 7MM would be consistant at that range. BTW, I have used a 7MM for many years and there is no comparison.[:)]

    340 yd. Deer was behind a terrace in a cut corn field. Facing straight at me, I could only see head and about three inches of neck when he raised his head to look around. Centered neck one inch under chin with a 270 Win. 130 gr Sierra boattail.

    I have taken several beyond 400 yards, with the furthest being 535. I took a cow elk at 730, and they were all done with a Browning SS A-bolt in 300 Win. Mag. Killed a coyote at 630 with a SS A-bolt in 260 Rem. Takes a lot of practice at extended ranges.

    My first buck was less than 50yds taken with 30-30, I have shot two bucks at well over 200 yds with 300 win mag and the last one was about 30ft with 50cal muzzle loader.
