Child Support /College Question

Thought someone here might know the answer to this or have some experience with this situation .. I currently pay my exwife child support for my two daughters .. My current wife has just started college .. I was told by another couple that since I pay child support that I could get my wife's college tuition covered by the government ? Does that sound right or am I being stupid here ? Thanks ..

    Seems unlikely to me, but the financial aid office should be able to give you the correct answer.

    Why would you expect that or even want it. When you play, you pay. I don't want to pay for your wife's education. "The Government " gets all their money from US....remember![:(!]

    Maybe I took the question out of context.

    There are all sorts of grants/loans to help you and your wife with education. Not sure what child support has to do with it unless it has to do with reducing your income. Try "Pell Grants" or'Education Grants" searches.

    Sorry if I jumped the gun. My in-laws are always trying to get something for nothing and it pisses me off to no end!!

    Look at it this way...the money is out there to be had, like it or not. If you in-laws weren't getting it, some illegal would be. You, and I, are going to pay one way or the other. Now I had rather not pay, but really have no choice in the matter. I had rather pay for my in-laws, or your in-laws (if they aren't illegals! [:D]) to get it than the other.

    I dont know, but there are plenty of grants that SHE can apply for. I don't know that you can do it for her. but it worth looking into.

    heads up i don't know if you are in one of these states or not. But
    some states like "utah" for example, have passed legislation,
    that could have you paying the X child support money for the kids even after the age of 18, up until they are 24. as long as she can proved proof that the kid(s) is/are enrolled in a college then you will pay HER, not the college and not the kid.
